Mr. Leonard Anderson

Leonard Anderson, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the age of 62 years. He was born the third of nine children on May 9, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan to Leonard Anderson, Sr. and Charity Marie Barefield. Leonard was married to Regina Anderson in 1986, from this union one child was born, Leonard Anderson III. He received his high school diploma and was employed at Pinnacle Food formerly Vlasic Pickle for 42 years and a member of UFCW Local 87. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, coaching baseball, listening to music, bowling and playing dominos. He also enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. He was well known for cooking delicious fish and mastering the art of Bar-B-Que. He could cook! Leonard accepted Christ in 1986. He was a past member of Harris Temple Church of God in Christ in Saginaw, Michigan. He rededicated his life to the Lord in 2018. While he will be missed, we are grateful that he is now in a place where he is no longer in pain and suffering. We will miss him, but we are so happy and rejoice knowing that he is finally where he wants to be. He leaves to cherish many memories, one son, Leonard Anderson III (Treva) of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Tiesha Anderson of Grand Rapids, MI; one step-son, Jelani (Ebony) McCaskey; a host of grandchildren; five sisters, Adrienne (Jerry) Williams, Jennifer (Joe) Haymon, Marsha Wilson, Yolanda Barefield of Ypsilanti, MI and Monica Barefield of Columbus, OH; three brothers, Wardell and Darnell Danley, and Darnell Barefield all of Saginaw; fiancée, Etta Smith; god-brother, Eugene (Linda) Reed and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends, including special friend, Roosevelt Shivers. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Anderson, Sr., Charity Marie and Johnny Barefield; wife, Regina Anderson; grandparents, Zollie Braxton and Ida Warren; nephew, Fredrick Williams and a cousin, Derrick Warren. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 1111 North 29th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Willie Hill, Jr., officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, 7475 East Holland Road, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
