Mr. Lisle Brummell

The death is announced of Lisle (Lloyd) E. Brummell aka The Guyanese Pork-knocker, age 98 years, who died on November 30, 2019 in Detroit, Michigan. Lisle was born in Christ Church, Barbados, West Indies. He migrated to Guyana, where he met his loving wife Lurline of 75 years and was a proud employee of the Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service. He immigrated to Saginaw, Michigan and worked at General Motors Malleable Iron Plant from which he retired after 25 plus years. He was a member of UAW Local 455. After retirement, he and his other retired buddies would meet at the East Side Soup Kitchen in Saginaw, MI. They did this religiously for many years. He was a member of Ames United Methodist Church in Saginaw, MI and also attended Missionary Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Detroit, MI, under the direction of Supt. Willfred Matthews. Lisle left a legacy of wisdom, love and compassion that showed in everything he did. He was instrumental in helping many others come to the United States of America. Lisle was a solid foundation and cornerstone for his international family and friends. Lisle enjoyed working on cars, traveling and helping others. Mr. Lisle Brummell is survived by children, Oswald (Patricia) Brummell, Osrene (Supt. Golden deceased 2002) Ferguson, Oslin “Lynn” Brummell-Presley (Raymond), Lennox (Avril King) Brummell, Leon (Debbie) Brummell and (Hazel) Angela (Harry) Basey; grandchildren, Andrea, Arlene, Kwame, Ashaki, Aaron, Sheldon, Kanyea, Ashley, Cherish, Carlotta, Lesha, Alexandria, Chenise, Luckey, Shawn and Rayshawn; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Agatha, Hazel, Vera, Shirley and special nieces, Marilyn, Donna, Yvonne (Marshall), Olga and Virginia; special nephews, Gordon Walks, Eustace McKenzie and Sam (Pam) Cordwell; in-laws, Byron (Juliana) Henry, Patrick (Gloria) Williams, Ivor (Patsy) Henry and Carlton (Yvonne) Chalmers; a host of other relatives and friends, including the Brummell, Walks, Woods, Williams, Smith, Henry, Cordwell, Baird, Greene, Benn, Chalmer, Cummings, Eastman, Roberts, Cooper, Cameron, Herod, Perry, Resley, Roaches, Davidson, Durant, Thomas, Grant, Jackson, Ofori-Dankwas, and Mayer families. Mr. Lisle Brummell was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lurline O. Brummell; his parents, John R. Brummell and Matilda M. Clarke; a son, Osmond Brummell; sisters; Irish Blanchard and Irene Roach; Brother, Ronald Brummell; grandchildren, Jerome Brummell and Azikiwe Presley; nephews, David and Stanley; niece, Elika, Joyce and Iris; a great-nephew, Lloyd; special son-in-law, Superintendent, Golden Ferguson. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State Street, Saginaw, MI 48602. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Friday, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
