Mrs. Lottie Mae McClain

Lottie Mae McClain, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2019 at the age of 93, surrounded by family who loved her dearly. She was born October 18, 1926 in Tishomingo, Mississippi to Olden and Eugenia Hodges; the fifth of ten children. There at an early age she accepted Christ at the Carter’s Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Lottie married Charles Crittendon in 1948. They relocated from Sheffield, Alabama to Saginaw, Michigan. To this union two children were born. Charles predeceased her in 1961. She later married L.K. (Jack) McClain. Lottie was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Nurses Guild and the Mother’s Board for many years. She was a dedicated, hardworking woman who loved her family dearly and never met a stranger. Affectionately known as Gram to her grandchildren, she was also “Gram” to many others who knew and loved her. For many years she was employed by Goodwill Cleaners. Her favorite activities included quilting with the Ricker Annex Senior Citizens, cooking for family and friends, planting flowers and working in, not only her yard, but her children’s and grandchildren’s too. She was blessed to continue working in her yard into her 90s. Lottie was a super fan of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events. She leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Gail (Dennis) Porter, Silva Ann Casey, and Dorothy Perry; grandchildren, Michelle (Ronald) Hill, M. Denise Baldwin, Kisha Porter-Johnson, Courtney (Omar) Jones, Ray (Constance) Perry, Vanette Dawkins, and Ronald Christian; great-grandchildren, Akia, Malik, and Nia Baldwin, Sydney and Kendall Hill, Derricka Johnson, and Orion and Onyx Jones; great-great grandson, Braylon Baldwin; brother, Walter Hodges; sister-in-law, Ann Hodges; godson, Tyrone Nadir; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; including special friends, Annie Thomas, Helen Daniels, Helen Scott, and Sadie Vance. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olden and Eugenia Hodges; husband, L.K. (Jack) McClain; sisters, Lizzie Doss, Ora Williams, Ella B. Pride, and Pearline Hodges; brothers, John, Wesley, O.C., and William Hodges. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 721 Johnson Street, Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Rodrick A. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.. The family will be present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
