Mrs. Louise Derden

Dear Family and Friends, We are so very grateful that you are joining us this morning in celebrating the life of our beloved and dear mother, Louise Tyson Derden. Our mother was born Louise Sanders, on April 27, 1930, to the union of the late Leroy Sanders and Donna Kennedy. Louise and her dear cousins, Juanita, Deloris, Mary Doris and Josephine grew up in the home of their beloved grandparents David and Iola ‘Cheb’ Kennedy. They were thick as thieves and were sisters more than cousins. In later years, Donna and James Smith opened their home to three additional siblings, David ‘Bozie’ Smith, Antoine ‘Papa’ Smith and Sabrina Smith-Brown. Our mother first married our Dad, Roy Tyson, in August 1949 and to this union were born our brother, Roy ‘Pee Wee’ Tyson, Jr., Gregory Marlowe Tyson and Vanesha. Anne Tyson Our mother later married Harding ‘Brother-in-Law’ Derden in May 1971. Our mother possessed many talents which included being a hair stylist, a great cook, singer, dancer, and pretty much anything that she put her mind to. She worked for many years at Waltruss Market. Louise worked for General Motors at Grey Iron Foundry and retired in 1995. We believe that her favorite role was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. While she gave birth to three kids, she played a mother role to so many throughout her lifetime. Our mother made her transition on Monday, November 18, 2019, in the arms of her loving granddaughter, Janelle. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Gregory (Vickey) Tyson and daughter, Vanesha Tyson; grandchildren, Roy (Eulisha) Tyson, III, Gregory Peoples Tyson, Janelle Tyson and Leane Dugan; great-grandchildren, D’Marta Peoples, Morgan Tyson, Jenai Peoples, Jaylen Dugan, Roy N. Tyson IV, Gregory Peoples III, Janiya Louise Strodes, Aleyah Fernandez and A’Ziylonn Peoples; her brother, David ‘Bozie’ Smith; and sister, Sabrina Smith-Brown; her beloved cousin, Josephine Haynes; sister-in-law, Jewell Dorsey; daughter-in-law, Nancy Pasarillo; lifelong friend, Martric Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harding Derden and Roy Tyson; son Roy ‘Pee Wee’ Tyson, Jr.; her parents, James and Donna Smith; her father, Leroy Sanders; sister/cousins, Juanita Williams, Deloris Colvin and Mary Doris Burns; brother, Antoine ‘Papa’ Smith; and her companion, Erving ‘Tiny’ King. Rest well Ma. We will see you on the other side. What a glorious reunion it will be. Love, Greg and Vanesha Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 5580 Frankenmuth Rd., Vassar, MI 48768.Pastor David Somers, Host Pastor and Bishop Dempsey Allen will officiate with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Vassar, MI. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.. The family will be present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
