Mother Louise Kelley

Mother Louise (Barnett) Kelley was born January 29, 1921 in Stringer, Mississippi to Free Barnett and Rachel (Shelby) Barnett. She passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Mother Kelley attended Mississippi Public Schools. She was employed by Southern University as a house keeper and Heaven Ridge Elementary School as a lunch aide. She was faithful member and mother at Greater All Nations Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ in Saginaw, MI. She truly loved her pastor, Pastor Louis Bishop. Mother Kelley enjoyed listening to gospel music, she liked good food and she was a great cook. She had a great sense of humor, was very supportive and encouraging. She loved prayer and was prayer warrior. Her famous saying was, Tell the Truth! Hold on and Wait on God. She meant what she said and said what she meant. She will surely be missed. Her memory will be cherished by her one faithful sister, Odessa Davis, who stayed with her and cared for her; her three stepchildren, Katherine Lee, Martha Johnson and Eddie (Karen) Poke; grandchildren, Barbara L. (Douglas) Williams, John Lee, Donald Johnson, Duran Johnson, Damita Arnold, Dawn (Robert) Davis, Brienna Poke, Khatorah Poke and Jamarcus Poke; a host of great & great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; a special niece, Inez Williams; and her best friends, Sarah White, Georgie and Johnny Ruth. Her beloved husband, Homer Kelley preceded her in death in September 1998; she was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Alexander Barnett, Ray Barnett, James Barnett, Frank Barnett, Alvin Barnett, Billy Barnett, Grace McDonald, Hilda Russell, Margaret Barnett and Doris Barnett; stepson, Clarence Kelley; son-in-law, John Lee Sr.; granddaughter, Kimberly Lee; and a great-grandson, Damonte Lee. The family would like to express a specials thanks to A& D and Disability Network, and to all of the Caregivers that took such great care of her over the years. Family hour will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue with funeral service commencing at 6:00 p.m. Superintendent Louis Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Mother Kelley will be taken to Hall Fairley Mortuary, 710 Hall Avenue, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Triumph the Church & Kingdom of God in Christ, 210 Wyatt Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg, MS.
