Mrs. Lucille Little

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 A time to be born: Lucille Pruitt Little (known to some as Maude Lee) was born November 26, 1947, in Panola, Alabama, the fourth child of Bill and Chocolate Pruitt. A time to plan: Lucille was a serious student in school; she excelled in oratorical presentations. She graduated, with honors from North Sumter High School in 1966, and joined the Great Migration of young African Americans seeking a better life up North-first to Detroit, Michigan, then to Saginaw. She prepared for, and enjoyed a long and successful career with Saginaw General (now Covenant) Hospital, where she worked in various positions until her retirement in December 2005. A time to Love: Lucille married her husband, Reverend Jimmy Little on July 31, 1967; and they became parents to two daughters, Brenda Gale and Latasha; and one son, Jimmy Jr. A time to play: Lucille’s favorite pastime was walking; she walked regularly, rapidly, and with a passion. That was her way to relax. A time to serve: As a young child, Lucille accepted Christ and joined the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Panola, Alabama, where she served throughout her growing-up years. She worshipped and served at various churches in Saginaw: True Vine Baptist, Candle Light Baptist, and finally Church Without Walls, where she served as First Lady with her husband. After retirement, Lucille found her mission in feeding the hungry. Once or twice weekly, she made her way to the East Side Soup Kitchen to serve the hungry, even when she was unable to eat. A time to mourn: Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar “Bill” Pruitt and Chocolate “Ruth” Cherry Pruitt. A time to fly: Lucille finished her mortal purpose and transitioned to the immortal realm on Sunday, December 11, 2016. She was a dedicated Christian, a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. A time to reflect: Lucille’s memory will be cherished by many: her husband of 49 years, Rev. Jimmy Little; her children, Brenda Gale Little and Jimmy Little Jr. of Arlington, Texas, and Latasha McGee and her husband, Charles McGee of Saginaw, Michigan; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers, four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, four aunts, two uncles, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lucille’s purpose in life has been fulfilled. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3610 Russell Street, with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Jr, Host Pastor and Pastor Jimmie Little will officiate. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
