Lucius Mayfield

Mayfield, Deacon Lucius Sr. Saginaw, Michigan. Sunrise: December 22, 1912 Sunset: March 3, 2005 Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Victorious Believers Ministries C.O.G.I.C., 624 South Outer Drive, with the funeral commencing at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Marvin C. Pryor will officiate with interment in the Buena Vista Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Deacon Lucius Mayfield, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2005 at Covenant Health Care after a lengthy illness. Lucius was born December 22, 1912 in Gordo, Ala., moving from there in 1932 to Muskegon, Mich. where he worked at Lakey Foundry for 19 years. Lucius then moved to Saginaw, Mich. in 1955 where he worked as an iron pourer, trainer and welder at the Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry for 25 years. He was a member of UAW Local 668. He met and married Ada Belle Hannibal on September 3, 1956. To this union, five children were born: JoeAnne Jackson, Mary Sue Hannibal, Hattie (Terrell) Shepard, Catherine Jackson and Lucius Mayfield, Jr., all of Saginaw, Mich. and adopted son, Emmanuel Mose Mayfield of Haiti. Lucius also leaves 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a special cousin, Lizzie Mae Harris. Lucius loved the Lord faithfully and loved the church dearly. He was a member of Victorious Believers Ministries C.O.G.I.C., formerly Grant Street C.O.G.I.C., which he joined in 1954, and served on the Deacon Board many years until his illness. He also leaves his in-laws, Alice Brown, Martha (Wilton) Scott, Sr., Mary (Willie) Bracey, Sr., Angie Ryan, Isabella (Houston) Jackson, all of Saginaw, Evelyn (Rev. Johnnie) Griffin of New York and many nieces and nephews. Lucius loved children so he leaves several godchildren, Jerry Morris, Mark Pahssen, Brenda Palmer, Verle Simpson, Reasia and Trina Mason, Larry Newson, Vickey Peitras, Ruth Monroe, Angie Jones, Ida Young, Christopher Scott and Rev. Ardis Thompson and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. James Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Pryor, Mr. and Mrs. James Nash, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hendricks and Mr. and Mrs. Felton Jackson. Lucius was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie Mayfield-Avery, Mose Mayfield, dearest son-in-law, Roosevelt Jackson; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Mary Sue Hannibal and brothers-in-law, Thomas Brown and Morris Ryan.
