Mrs. Lula Diane Evans

Due to a lengthy battle with cancer, in the early morning hours on May 31, 2025 with her daughter by her side, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother peacefully transitioned from her earthly home at the age of 77 years. She was the daughter of Emma (Thomas) Davis and was born on August 25, 1947 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School in Saginaw, MI. Lula, affectionately known as “Diane” married Thomas Evans and to this union she mothered three children. Diane worked for General Motors, Air-Mart and owned her own restaurant; “Lady Di’s Diner” where she enjoyed cooking, serving others and employed many family members. Diane later joined Victorious Believers Ministries under the leadership of the late Bishop Marvin C. Pryor and continued serving under Administrative Assistant Pastor Christopher V. Pryor where she faithfully served in the Kitchen and Usher Ministries. Diane loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and a special friend, Mother Ella Carter. Diane shared a special sisterly love with Bobbie (Gene) Matthews and Lou Dean Moultrie. One of Diane’s hobbies was collecting an array of glasses; if her glasses didn’t match her outfit, the outfit wasn’t complete. She enjoyed traveling and in her latter years she became an international traveler, spending time with her son in Dubai and Morocco. She was a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to those that came into her life through her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She b had a special group of people she loved as her own: Lloyd Arnold, Larry Calhoun, Sharrie Williams-Crawford, Yvette (Lottie) Carpenter, Melanie Barnette, Njeri (Shay) Olufunmitayo, Yolanda Holloway-Christmas, Darnell Dunnaway and Mohamed Outghachi. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Nova Evans, Saginaw; grandchildren, Paries (Teryn) Myles, Saginaw, Zechariah Evans, Plano, TX; great-grandchildren, Elijah Hairston, Grand Blanc, MI, Gabrielle Hairston, Grand Blanc, MI, Jayce and Zaiden Evans both of Saginaw; sisters, Janice Ruffin and Brenda Davis-Sherly both of Saginaw; special nieces, Regina (Tommie) Phillips, Latanya Davis, Antoinette Ware, Devon Ware and a niece that was more like a daughter, Monica Davis; special nephews, Dietrick and Willie Davis, Jr., Brandon Ruffin and Johnny Daivs, Jr. Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Evans; a son, Andre Evans; infant daughter, Andrea Evans; parents, Emma (Thomas) Davis; grandparents, Beatrice (Green) Doyle and Johnnie Thompson; brothers, Thomas Davis, Jr; infant twin brothers; sisters, her twin, Beatrice Elaine Davis and Patricia Ware; uncles, Percy Garrette and David Smith; brothers-in-law, Paul McKay, Jimmy Evans, Willie Davis, Sr., Charles Ruffin and James Sherly; nephews, Travis Ruffin and Monte Davis; great-nephews, Otis Cheatham, Jr.; mother and father-in-law, Ella (Earl) Evans-Corley and special friend, Patricia Williams. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Chris and Lady Kenyatta Pryor and the entire VBM family, her niece, Tamelka Doster, U of M Ann Arbor/Midland, Heartland Hospice, Great Lakes Rehab and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Victorious Believers Ministries, 624 Outer Dr., Saginaw, MI 48601 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Christopher Pryor will officiate. Interment will take place in Buena Vista Cemetery, 612 S. Airport Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place Wednesday at the funeral home from 2:00-6:00 p.m.
