Lurline was born in Guyana, South America. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church under the leadership of Rev. William Boli. She was the daughter of Augustas Walks and Ruby Cordwell-Williams; wife of Lisle Brummell of 69 years; mother of Ossie (Patricia) Brummell, Osrene (Supt. Golden preceded her in death in 2002) Ferguson, Osmond Brummell, (Lynn) Oslin (Raymond) Presley, Lennox Brummell, Leon (Debbie) Brummell, Angela (Harry) Basey; sister of Michael (Patsy) Wood, Bryon (Juliana) Henry, Ivor (Dorothy) Henry, Patrick (Gloria) Williams, Joyce Cordwell and Yvonne (Carlton) Chalmers; grandmother of Andrea, Kwame, Ashaki, Azikiwe, Aaron, Sheldon, Kanyea and others; great-grandmother of 12; great-great-grandmother of two; a very special aunt, Bennie Cordwell; a host of nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Marilyn, Donna, Olga, Yvonne (Marshall), and a special nephew, Gordon; a host of other relatives including the Walks, Woods, Williams, Smiths, Henrys, Cordwells, Bairds, Greenes, Benns, Chalmers, Cummings, Eastmans, Roberts, Mannings, Coopers, Camerons, Herods, Perrys, Presleys, Roaches, Brummells, Davidsons, Durants, Thomas, Grants, Jacksons, Ofori-Dankwas, Pulliams and Mayers families; special god-children, Virginia Robinson, Louise Robinson. Predeceased by seven brothers, four sisters, one infant son, one loving son-in-law, one special loving grandson, aunts and uncles. Lurline left a legacy of wisdom, love and compassion that showed in everything she did for her family and friends. Lurline was a pillar of strength and a solid cornerstone for her international family and friends. Special thanks to all her caregivers, Dr Sarkodie and staff and other medical personnel. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 720 Tuscola St. The Very Rev. Judith D. Boli will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
