Mrs. LuWanna Pruitt

Our beloved mother, sister, and friend, LuWanna Pruitt, gained her heavenly wings on Saturday April 20, 2019 at the age of 62 years. LuWanna was the definition of a faith warrior. In her own words, she stared fear in the face and destroyed its hold over her. Cancer did not win! LuWanna was born on July 22, 1956 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents are Lillian Randolph and Roosevelt Washington Jr. LuWanna was the oldest of three children. In 1983, LuWanna met the late Rev. Thorner L. Pruitt in her hometown, Chicago, and it was love at first site. LuWanna and Thorner were married six months later and remained married until his untimely passing in 2001. Their union produced two sons that they deeply adored, Melvin and Michael Pruitt. LuWanna remained in Saginaw, Michigan for the duration of her life where she was a teacher and administrator for 35 years in the Buena Vista, Bridgeport, and Saginaw Public School systems. LuWanna attended and faithfully served at Saginaw Valley Community Church and was a member of the United Sisters in Christ. LuWanna accepted the call of God on her life and was ordained an apostolic prophetic gift to the body of Christ. She studied under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Peggy Jo Mason, founder of Worship in Motion, Detroit, Michigan and regularly ministered in prophetic dance and mime. As a Health Minister, LuWanna founded L.I.V.E Healthy!, a ministry that served the needs of those who desired to overcome sickness and disease and live a healthier, victorious lifestyle. LuWanna portrayed Kingdom living through her teachings, testimonies, and worship, and she IS a cancer overcomer! Her last great project, published two weeks before her transition, Breaking Through the Darkness: A Love Ballad Vol. One, is a testament to this. LuWanna will be truly missed by her sons Melvin (Ashley) Pruitt and Michael (Kimberly) Pruitt, her mother Lillian Randolph, father Roosevelt Washington, Jr., brothers Ken (Jana) Washington, Ron (Kathy) Washington, William Randolph Jr, Milton Randolph, Michael Randolph, and Gregory Randolph, a host of nieces and nephews, God child Auspria Douglas, and her spiritual sisters Sharrie Williams-Crawford, Mary Jackson, Mother Mae Wathan, Lisa Coleman, Pat Brummell, Harriet Douglas, and Cherryl Biggins. LuWanna also leaves to cherish her memory, her best friend and special love, Michael Green, who never left her side. LuWanna was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Thorner L. Pruitt, her stepfather William Randolph (Papa Bill), and her step-sister Pamela. The family would like to thank Pastors Dick and Pat Sayad and the Saginaw Valley Community Church family, Dr. Bazzi, Covenant Hospital Oncology and ER staff, Francis Reh Academy, and those who continuously poured love and support into LuWanna throughout her life. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Saginaw Valley Community Church, 3660 Hermansau Road, Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Richard Sayad will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to greet friends.
