Mr. Mander "Pete" Johnson

Mr. Mander Pete Johnson was called home to our Lord on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in Sun Lakes, Arizona. He was born on September 27, 1927 in Blackey, Kentucky. Mander was the only child of George and Nannie Mae Johnson. Mander was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, MI and First Baptist Church in Arizona. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School and attended Michigan State University. Mander was a World War II Veteran who served in the Airforce. He also had several businesses including Mobile & Sons gas station, an Auto Supply Shop, provided Men’s Clothing & Tailoring services and was the owner of an Income Tax Consulting Service. Mander retired from Michigan Bean Company in 1989 after 37 years of leadership. In Arizona, he was a member of the American Legend, Sun Lakes Lion Club, Men’s Golf Club, Bocee Ball Club and the Lucky 8 Billiards Club. Mander enjoyed playing golf, swimming, traveling, reading, spending time with family, charming others with his stories and alluring everyone with his charismatic smile. Mr. Mander Pete Johnson was a devote husband, father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory; his beloved wife, Ollie Johnson of 29 years and his former wife, Ann Johnson; three sons, Charles Hill, Mander Johnson, Jr. and George (Maria) Johnson; four daughters, Diane (William) Donald, Debra (Michael) O’Bryant, Dorothea (Alton) Smith and Martha (James) Sanford; step-daughters, Barbara (Sidney) Addison, Stephanie (William) Vance; step-son, Vergil Simpson; 10 granddaughters, 11 grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; special friends, Fred (Daisy) Thompson, Clyde Robinson, Paul Glaser, Kim Harris, Pam Harris, Lorraine & Al McKinney, Ivory & Shirley Alexander, Billie Bradford, Cookie Henson, Mary Flynn and Darlene Taylor. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by sons, Barry and Terrance Johnson; parents, George and Nannie Mae Johnson. His intelligence, wit and humor will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him. The family would like to express special thanks to all those who have supported us during this time of our loss. Family hour will take place at 10: 00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 N. 6th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington St., Saginaw, MI 48601.
