Mrs. Marie J. "Red Head" Green

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Marie J. Green transitioned on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the age of 89 years. She was the daughter of Walter Evans and Annie LaFear. Marie was born January 9, 1929 in Hope, Arkansas. Marie was married to Albert Green for 52 years, until death did they part in 2015. Albert aka “Goody” or “Big Green” which she called him was a loving and devoted husband. Her health and well-being was his primary focus. They were a funny couple, always joking with one another and trying to outdo one another. Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and got a special kick out of her grandkids. She always made each one feel like they were her favorite even though she loved them all equally. She was a world class cook and put love into every dish. Everyone in the family fondly recalls her cooking in the kitchen during the holidays. Some cooks prepare food because they have to, she cooked because she loved to see you enjoy it. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, listening to a variety of music and fellowshipping with her friends. She was well loved by all who knew her and she will truly be missed. Mrs. Green leaves to cherish loving memories, one daughter, Saundra D. Sangster of Southfield, MI; one son, Claude L. Macon of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Monica Sangster-Henley and Valli Sangster of Southfield, MI, Deidra Greer of Corsicana, TX, Eric Macon and Tai Parker of Saginaw, MI, and Jeanae Crawford of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren, Nadia (Carl), Asia and Jaya Sangster, Daresha Holmes, Dacquinn (Rose) Macon, Dakeythia Moore, Devon Macon, Daeshawn Rivers, Austin Cesare, Landon Cesare, Damon Greer, Jr., Dominic Greer, Daysha Greer, Dayna Greer and Dimitri Greer; great-great-grandchildren, Brielynn and Brayden Sangster, Londynn Macon, Amani Gaynes and Athena Macon; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other special relatives including Gregory (Monica) Macon, Thomas Collins, Tina Greer, Donald Madden, Eric Collins, Tanesha Sangster, Gail Sewell, Debbie McClinton, Charlie Riley and Rose Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Green; parents, Walter Evans and Annie LaFear; grandson, Damon Greer; sisters, Helen Wilson (Delmar, Sr.) Alice Williams; brothers, Clint and Austin Wright; niece, Dorothy Judd (Robert); nephews, Delmar Wilson, Jr. (Ester), Bernard “Sonny” and Henry Wilson; grandson-in-law, Kenneth Henley. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor Dennis Laffoon will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to greet friends.
