Mrs. Martha Hardy

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7 Martha Beatrice Hardy was born August 10, 1923 in Marianna, Arkansas the daughter of James and Emma (McCutcheon) Wright. She passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the age of 98 years. Martha moved to Saginaw, Michigan as a young girl she accepted Jesus and was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1942. In 1971, she moved her membership to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Martha was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She had an extraordinary sense of humor that she shared with her family and very close friends. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She had a beautiful, inviting smile and a strong yet sweet spirit that will be greatly missed. Among her various jobs she loved being a Realtor for Thelma Poston Realty. She was a Cosmetologist holding an active cosmetology license for over 60 years. Her hobbies included watching old TV shows, doing Find a Word, and working puzzles, thrifting at the used stores, playing the organ and piano. She received the Faithful Service Award from Aquila Priscila Greeters Ministry, the Very Involved Person Award in 1991 and honored as Mother of the Year by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Saginaw Chapter and was a lifetime member of the N.A.A.C.P. Mrs. Hardy was active for more than 50 years to the following: Supreme Royal Ladies Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Adoption Sheba Royal Palace No. 1, Bright Star Chapter #22 Order of the Eastern Star, she served as the Supreme Grand Financial Recorder for the Imperial Grand Court, Grand Chapter of Greater Queen Esther Grand Chapter of Detroit, MI. She also served as Amaranth Blue Star Court #5, Heroines of Jericho, and Lady of Knights, she was a member of Daughters of Sphinx and The Royal Ladies, Sojourner Truth #40/Cordelia #48 Chapters: Order of Eastern Star, Treasurer, Past Worthy Matron of Cordelia Chapter, #48, Martha traveled most of the United States attending conferences and other functions sponsored by the Eastern Star. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends and will forever remain in the hearts of all those who loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Gail M. Palmer, Clifton (June) Smith and Mary A. Hardy all of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Louise (Palmer) Crisp, Lewis Palmer, Elaine Hunt, Evelyn (Schrank) Jones, Jacob Schrank, Tina (Cain) and Carl Pollard, Quentin Smith, Montae Smith, Damiano Hardy and Brittnae Hardy; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Martha Hardy was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Hardy; parents, James and Emma Wright; a son, Steven Smith; grandson, Anthony Smith; aunts who helped raise her; beloved cousins, Lula B. Jones, Ollie Williams and Fred Pruiett. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Promedica Heartland Hospice Care, Christy, Ayesha, Randll, Keith, Sandra, Rose, Nikki, Christine and Dr. Campau. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue with a funeral commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Vincent McMillon will officiate with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI.
