Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. "God took a walk through His garden and looked at how the flowers abound. As He strolled along the blooms ...a special flower He found. On Friday, April 6, 2012, He reached down his massive hand and picked it from all the rest. He gazed at this special flower, He knew He picked the best! Dignity, elegance, courage, and strength are all words that describe Mary Alice Hollis; an entrepreneur and God fearing woman. She was a woman of extraordinary grace and excellence sent to us by God." Mary Alice Reaves moved to Saginaw, Michigan in June of 1963 and married the love of her life, Thomas Hollis, on September 12, 1964. Thomas preceded her in death on October 9, 1999. She was a faithful and active member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She was known for her creativity. Mary Alice received her education and was a graduate of the Headland School System in Headland, Alabama. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and one son, Deirdre Hollis-Smith and Devona Hollis both of Lawrenceville, GA and Devin Hollis, Saginaw, MI; three grandchildren, Jevon Hollis, Houston, TX, Thomas and Amaria Smith both of Lawrenceville, GA; three sisters, Gracie Witherspoon, Shender (Regimond) McKinney and Ethel Warren, all of Saginaw, MI; adopted grandson, Lawrence Bell, Houston, TX; Godchildren, Rhonda Warren, Sheena Flemming and Camesha Huffman, all of Saginaw, MI, and Robert Cook of Esconaba, MI; special nieces, Tonja Brown, Saginaw, MI and Lacretia (Darrell) Usher, Conyers, GA; special nephew, Rapheal Hill; uncle, Royal Lee Holley, Saginaw, MI; special cousins, Mae Rietta Reaves and family of Dothan, AL and Donnie (Francis) Reaves and family of Jackson, MI; cousins, Regina, Kendra, Khalia, Reginald Warren, Drayne all of Saginaw, MI, Nicquel Terry, Troy, MI, Peggie (Hinton J.)
