Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 810 Cathay Street. Rev. T. J. London, Pastor. Pastor Otis O. Washington, Sr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present for a Family Hour from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Our beloved Melanie was born January 24, 1984 in Saginaw, MI and passed away December 26, 2006. She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and was attending Eastern Michigan University and Washtenaw Community College in Ypsilanti, MI, majoring in Elementary Education. Melanie was employed as a medical technician at Fairfax Manor I and II in Ypsilanti. Melanie was affiliated with the Saginaw Soul Children and was also a certified lifeguard, enjoying swimming, shopping, basketball, dancing and skiing. She loved children and spending time with her family, also stylish clothing and the latest hairstyles. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Linda (Rev. McArthur) Whitfield; her father, John Walton of Tennessee; grandparents, Mary Mosley of Saginaw, MI, Willie Mosley of Los Angeles, CA; four sisters, Candace Whitfield, Abbey (Tyrone) Smith, Felicia Henderson and Talicia Henderson all of Saginaw, MI; one step-sister, December Whitfield of Saginaw, MI and one brother, Joshua Walton of Saginaw, MI. She also leaves three aunts, Gloria Mosley-Whitson of Arlington, TX, Shirley (Willie) Williams and Cherita Walton both of Tennessee; nine uncles, Willie Mosley of Florida, Randy Mosley of California, Dwight Mosley of Saginaw, MI, Lowell, Jerry, Clyde and Tom Walton all of Tennessee, Henry and Calvin (Doreen) Walton both of Saginaw, MI; two nieces, Samantha Brethauer and Cierra Ziegler; three nephews, Teaghun Brethauer, Julian Henderson and J. R. Pearson; ten great-aunts; one great-uncle: special cousins, Deanna, Adrienne, Corey and Denise Walton, Darron Tate, Shaunce Santos and Starese Hatfield; a goddaughter, Sidney Wright; a god-sister, Rosie Whitson; many other relatives and friends, including special friends Krystal Wright, Crystal Jackson, Jennifer Thayer and Crystal Gause. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Calvin and Mary Walton, Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to Melanie's co-workers at Fairfax Manor, the many friends from Saginaw and Flint for their prayers and support, and the staff at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Critical Care Unit in Ypsilanti, MI.
