Mr. Melvin "Red" Donald Jr.

Melvin Donald, Jr. was born February 13, 1953 in Sallis, Mississippi the son of Melvin Donald, Sr. and Annie (Campbell) Donald. He passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at the age of 72 years. Melvin was affectionately known as “Redbone” and he had a favorite saying that everybody would say when seeing him “RITE NOW”!! He loved to cook and hang out with his family. His hobbies were fishing, playing dominoes and watching cowboy movies. Melvin was an excellent mechanic who could fix anything. He especially loved talking on the phone with his mother and putting a smile on everybody’s face who he came in contact with. Melvin will truly be missed. He leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Annie Donald of Saginaw, MI; seven daughters, Thabitha (Charles )Williams, Kimberly McDonald of Arlington, TX, Melva Long, Dorita Adams, Tanisha Buitron, Nickole Washington and Octavia (Westley) Pulliam; two sons, Richard Long and Marcus (Latisha) Washington; 17 grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Ebony Washington who he called #1 granddaughter and a special grandson, Rodney Turner, Jr. who he called #1 grandson. Melvin also leaves behind nine sisters, Evangelist Diane Holliman, Emma Donald, Evangelist, Ella (Isaiah ) Smith, Maggie Donald, Delphine Donald, Pastor Martha Jones, Mary Greer, both of Sallis, MS, Bernadette (Jamarquis) Jones and Velma (David) Samuels; three brothers, Dennis (Glenda) Donald, Earl (Christy) Winters, both of Sallis, MS and Derek Evans; three aunts, Emma Newton, Ressie Burnside and Nettie (Charles) Huley, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; three uncles, Sam, Dan and Mitchell Campbell, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Vaughn, Larry, Shawn, Kenny, T-Baby and Calvin. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelene Washington Donald; father, Melvin Donald, Sr.; brothers, Eddie and Lonnie Donald; grandparents, Melvin and Wardine Donald, Mike and Magnolia Campbell. The family wishes to thank Covenant HealthCare staff and the care team who took especially good care of Melvin. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Evangelist Ella Smith will officiate. Visitation will take place 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
