Mr. Michael Duain Nelums, Sr.

Mr. Michael Duain Nelums, Sr. passed away on November 29, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 69 years. He was born on February 16, 1956, in San Diego, California, to Clarence Nelums and Ann Brown. Michael was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 1974”. Following graduation, he began his career with General Motors in 1976, where he dedicated 30 years of service before retiring in 2006. During his employment, Michael was a member of the UAW Local 699. On August 16, 1980, Michael was united in marriage to Gwendolyn “Renee” Jeffries. From this union two children were born, Michael Jr. and Arika Nelums. Michael had a deep love for sports and was well known for his gift of conversation. He could talk to anyone and believed there were no strangers—just friends he had not yet met. His outgoing personality and genuine spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Above all, Michael cherished time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who brought him great joy. Michael’s memories will be cherished by his two children, Michael Jr and Arika Nelums; three grandchildren, Mikel Nelums, Chartez Dillard, both of Saginaw and Mikya Nelums of Fort Worth, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Gary Webb III, Kylei Blair, Mya Flood and Kyra Dillard; stepfather, Albert Brown; five siblings, Viki Nelums of California, Laura Nelums of Phoenix, AZ, Kendal Brown of Manhattan, NY, Rick Nelums of Norwalk, CA and Gregory Poole of Saudi Arabia; mother-in-law, Lucille Wright; sisters-in-law, Debra Stuckey, Christine Wright and Marilyn (Wesley) Strickland; brothers-in-law, Lamar Jeffries, Robert (Michelle) Jeffries and Grant Wright (Robin); a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, William Brown, Edgar “Uncle Buster” Bradley and Edgar Anderson. Mr. Nelums, Sr. was proceeded in death by his parents Clarence Nelums and Ann Brown. Grandparents Taylor Nelums and Alberta Nelums Michael Duain Nelums will be remembered for his warmth, laughter, dedication, and love for family. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N.Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Minister Marilyn Strickland will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
