Ms. Moline Banks McKeethen

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend, Moline Banks McKeethen, entered into eternal rest on February 21, 2020 at the age of 82 years. We pause to share the memory of one so dear whose life exemplified great faith, love, joy, strength, kindness, and excellence which will be cherished forever. She was born Moline Banks in Watson, Arkansas on September 29, 1937 to Dolphus and Ella (McDonald) Banks. She moved from Arkansas to Massachusetts and settled in Saginaw, Michigan in the early 1950’s. She worked many jobs including American Cleaners, 7 Eleven and Grey Iron Foundry General Motors, Corp. She was a member of UAW Local 668. Moline expressed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Zion Baptist Church. She was an exceptional homemaker who enjoyed entertaining with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for her family and others. When her boys were younger, her home was the house everyone would hang around and she was that mom who the neighborhood kids would call mom and always received a home cooked meal or healthy snacks. She was a beacon of support to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through her four children, Jerry (Kathryn) Banks, Sr., Saginaw, MI, Ricky (Barbara) Calhoun, Shreveport, LA, Tonia Banks (Robert) Gaines, Jr., Romulus, MI and Ephraim (Felecia) Banks, Detroit, MI; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary E. Taggart, Lynn, MA; five sisters-in-law, Annie, Sarahree, Arthurene Banks and Jackie Singleton, of Saginaw, MI and Senetta Pearl Banks, Tucson, AZ; special friends, Kate Jackson, Saginaw, MI, Dr. Sallie Brodus, Baltimore, MD and George Moultrie, Graceville, FL; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved and cherished her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolphus and Ella Banks; the father and step-father of her children, Edward M. McKeethen, Jr.; one daughter, Venus McKeethen Landin; three sisters, Ida Banks, Tesha Benham and Roxie Stockley; eight brothers, Odice, Floyd, Leroy, Julius, Joe, Hilliard, Walter and Willie Banks; a special sister-in-law, Cucecil Banks and Alberta Perkins and a special nephew, Bruce Banks. She has given us eight decades of memories, happiness, wisdom, and love. Although her earthly life came to an end, she lives on through all who knew and loved her. “In life, we loved you dearly, in death, we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill.” “Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift your heart and share with me; God wanted me now—he set me free.” Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2615 Williamson Road, Saginaw, MI 48601 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate with entombment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, 7475 E. Holland Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
