Mrs. Myrine E. Morris

Mother Myrine E. Morris went to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the age of 90 years with her daughter at her bedside at Healthsource of Saginaw. She was born November 10, 1929 in Nashville, TN the first of seven children from the union of Rev. Preston and Frances Mason. She moved to Saginaw, MI at the age of 5 years where she attended Saginaw Public Schools. Mother Morris was married to her husband, Nathan Morris, Sr. for 50 years. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2000. She retired from the Saginaw Board of Education after 25 years of service as Supervisor of the lunch room at Morley School. Mother Morris loved meeting and talking to people of all ages and spending time with her family. She was a member of Mt. Nebo MBC for over 40 years under the leadership of the late Rev. Audrain King, Sr. and now under the leadership of Pastor Willie R. Hill, Jr. She a member of the Usher Board and the Mother Board until her health started to fail. Her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mother Morris leaves to cherish her memory, seven children, daughters, Sharon (Matthew) Green, Delphine Morris, Rosemary Glass, all of Saginaw, MI, Louise Jackson, Grand Rapids, MI; sons, Kurkie (Julie Velasquez) Morris, Nathaniel Morris, Sr., both of Saginaw, MI and Michael (Patricia) Morris, Richmond VA; 14 grandchildren, Natasha and Kayla Morris, both of Grand Rapids, MI, Mercedes Kitchen, Dalvaccia Green, Kurkie (Katie) Morris II, Nathaniel Morris, Jr., Kenneth (Rhonda) Green, all of Saginaw, MI, Alicia Hall, Dallas, TX, Patrese Morris, Lashonda (Jetuan) Hill, Tamicha (Brook) Byum, all of Richmond, VA, Calvin (Latonya) Jackson, Jr., Muskegon, MI, Nicole (Murice) Perkins, Rodney (Yorbarnette) Green, Houston, TX; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; goddaughters, Joyce Robinson, Melva Reese, Darshea Jackson, Iwanna Hill (Peaches), all of Saginaw, MI; special nieces, Stephanie King and Ayana Fordham; special nephew, Derek Mason; a son-in-law she loved as a son, Mark Kitchen, Muskegon, MI; sister, Carol Mason, Saginaw, MI; brothers, Preston (Gloria) Mason, Jr., Saginaw, MI, Elder Edward (Gina) Mason, Las Vegas, NV, Dr. Willie (Alicia) Swanson, Ellicott City, MD; many other relatives and friends, including special friends, Mrs. Mary Cook, Ms. Charliestine Dillard, Deacon Willie and Carrie Whitley, Ricky Wilson, Don and Barbara Anderson, Tereasa Elliott, Mooreville, NC, Pastor Willie R. Hill, Jr., Deacon Larry Bowman and Delores Roberson. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Nathan Morris, Sr.; son, Anthony Morris; grandson, Druce Walker; parents, Rev. Preston and Frances Mason; sister, Mattie L. Fordham; brother, Robert L. Mason; and niece, Denise Harris. The family would like to express special thanks to Healthsource of Saginaw (Garden Neighborhood) where she was loved by her nurses and CNA’s, Callie Drayer, RN, Janeesa Mills, Latoya Johnson, Kan Johnson, L P N, Jalisa Echoes, Marie, Robert, William, Tosha, Kim, RN and Stacy, RN. Thank you to her brother and sister, Preston Mason and Carol Mason, for helping out with her care. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 1111 North 29th Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Willie Hill, Jr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
