Mrs. Nettie Jones

Ms. Nettie Ree (Underwood) Jones was born April 1, 1937 in Union Springs, Alabama, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Lumpkin) Underwood. She returned to glory on Monday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 83 years. Nettie confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. On January 26, 1968, she married Eldridge C. Jones. He preceded her in death. She retired from Home Bakery where she spent several decades doing what she loved to do best, “bake”. She was a member of the Alabama Reunion Club. Her hobbies included bingo, buying and selling items (she had knack for finding great deals), flea marketing, traveling, gardening, watching and attending sporting events. Nettie Ree was always the life of the family gatherings. She enjoyed her family and friends and most of all she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s graduation, and affectionately and bluntly speaking all of those who were graced with her presence. Memories of Nettie Ree will forever remain with her only daughter, Bessie (Gary) Adams and sons, Walter (Ellen) Underwood, Tom (Zelda) Underwood, Clinton (Chaya) Underwood; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; special aunt, Pearl Dorsey; special niece/daughter, May Woods; nieces, Mary Carter, Clarissa Underwood Snow, Jeanette White and Loudean Moultrie; special nephews, Jimmie Moultrie, Al (Cynetta) Moultrie, Ernest Bishop, Doc (Debra) Underwood and Larry Underwood; special great-nephew, Bobby Meredith; special cousins, Lela Faulk, Ora Lee McKinnely, Inez Bates, AR Andrews and Henry Lee; special friends, Frankie Adams, Ola Ray, Helen Browning, Joyce O’Neal, Willie Mae Carter (Redy) and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ms. Nettie Ree (Underwood) Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Underwood; ex-husband, Eldridge C. Jones; son, Henry Underwood; sisters, Louana (Joseph) Moultrie: Margaree Underwood, Fannie Mae Woods and Minnie Lee Underwood; brothers, Doc (Eva) Underwood, George (LT) Underwood, Willie James (Catherine) Underwood and Joe McCray; niece, Pearl Bishop; nephews; Homer Moultrie, James Woods, Thomas Lee Underwood and special friends, Eva Kelly and Earnesto Vallejo. The family would like to express special thanks to the Buena Vista Community Center, Alabama Reunion Club and Pastor Blake Strozier. Passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Graveside service will take place at 11:00 am Saturday, January9, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Blake Strozier will officiate.
