Precious Memories of O’dean (Hoover) Johnson “The Lord called home one of his special angels, our beloved Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great–Grandmother and Aunt”! Mrs. O’dean (Hoover) Johnson was born July 7, 1937 in Holmes County, Mississippi, the daughter of Shelby Britten and Octoria Hoover. She met and married George Johnson in Saginaw in 1972. O’dean accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful and dedicated member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. O’dean retired from St. Luke’s (Covenant-Cooper) Hospital. Her hobbies included water aerobics, word search puzzles, but her true love and passion was bowling whether it was at the bowling alley or playing the game on her tablet. O’dean’s warm smile and gentle personality touched many people’s lives. She possessed a courageous spirit and a kind caring nature that showed in her love for her children, family and friends! O’dean departed this life after a long illness on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the age of 79 years, surrounded by her family. O’dean was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, George Johnson; step-son, Larry Johnson; granddaughter, Kishna Nicole Johnson; parents, Shelby Britten and Octoria Hoover; three brothers, Otha B. (Son), Henry (Bud) Alfred and Willie B. (Dooley) Hoover; sister, Susie Ernestine (baby sister) Gibson, brothers-in-law, Clifton (Grey) Jones and Leslie Gibson; two sisters-in-law, Fannie B. Hoover and Erisene (Tut) Hoover. O’dean leaves to cherish her precious memory to: five daughters and two sons, Belinda Johnson, Michael (Zerita) Johnson, Yolanda (Geoffrey) Mack, Felicia M. Johnson, DeMarcus Johnson (Grand-son), Mary L. Lain, John (Dorothy) Jefferson and Carolyn Bashans; 17 grandchildren, Eddie Canada, Mychael (Beth) Canada, Kamry Mack, Ashlei Hudson, Michael Johnson Jr., Michelle Johnson, Kendall Mack, Jaleel Johnson, Quintella Johnson, LaShonda McCray, Larry Johnson, Adonis Johnson, Miriam Jefferson, MaShun Lain and Usherla Lain; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ada Frances (Herbert) Gibson and Kathleen Jones; sister-in-law, Lucy Virginia Hoover and a host of other relatives and friends including close friend, Mrs. Mary Harvey. Family hour will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 104 S. 10th Street with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Roy Manning, Sr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue. Family will be present from 6-8 p.m.
