Apostle Otis Olander Washington, Sr.

Apostle Otis Olander Washington Sr. was born October 4, 1946 in Loxley, Alabama to proud parents George and Bertha Washington. He left for Heaven on June 26, 2018. Oh how we will miss him. A man of power I call him; for he was fierce in his pursuit of God, and the protection of all that God entrusted to him. He taught our children to love God, to respect God's Word, and developed prayer and faithfulness in them through prayer and instruction around the ottoman in our home; coupled with sermons at the dinner table. Our children serve God today with that fervency, and are raising our grandchildren to do the same. Apostle Washington considered this to be his greatest accomplishment, our children are all saved and filled with The Holy Spirit. There was a Word from God, calling him to a higher ground. The Anointing was promised if he would choose to obey. He chose to go for God. Pastor Otis was called to Ministry while serving in Carson Baptist Church, Carson, California. He took an old brown van with glass pipes rumbling through our community and children were drawn to that sound. Those children were led to Jesus, filling the church with a younger generation, thus drawing the parents. We were destined to Michigan. Apostle Otis and our family joined Christ Deliverance Center. Pastor Glenn and Verde Nichols were our Pastors. We served faithfully and he was Ordained there. There was more to experience. The Lord allowed us to serve under Pastors Byron and Chestermae Hayes; again faithfully. Then, there was the call. Higher and higher was the plan. In 1990 Holy Communion Gospel Center Ministries was birthed in our hearts and on to our living room. Many came that first day and still remain. Apostle Otis was called to war against principality spirits over regions; driving through cities, pouring oil on the main streets, destroying strongholds and releasing God's plan for that city. Prayer walks were a favorite. He walked twelve to fourteen miles at times, caught up in the Presence of God. The Anointing was strong on his life. His desire to free those in bondage to anything brought him to morning and afternoon noon Corporate Prayer. People all over the city came for deliverance and most were able to go back to their church's free and willing to give their all to our Faithful God. Holy Communion became our family, and we are solid and on good ground because of Apostle Otis’ commitment to teach us all as if we were called to preach before millions. His Legacy of faithfulness, love and power will continue. Pastor Otis leaves to cherish his memory, Elizabeth Charlene, his wife of forty years. His children Krystal A. Walton (Los Angeles, California), Rickey (Ulanda) Fields, Brandi Washington, Otis(Denesherion) Washington, Columbus, Dawnika Cope, and our niece Ashley Butler of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Aerial Fields, Devin Walton(California), Hannah, and Savannah Washington (Columbus Ohio; Siblings, LeeNell (Louise) Washington Carson, Essie Smith of Manifee, California, Corine Hightower of California and Christine Washington of Stone Mountain, Georgia; many nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents George and Bertha Washington, sister Georgette Gaines and brothers Bill and Ollie (Ross) Washington. He leaves to celebrate his love, and Legacy of Faith to the entire Holy Communion Gospel Center Ministries Family. He was so proud of your commitment to love us, serve God, and support the work of the ministry. He guarded and watched over you with love as an under-Shepherd would. He thought that he and his Holy Communion brothers could do anything together. My husband’s final words: “I love you Lord, Give us this day our daily Bread” “ My God shall supply all our need” Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Wolverine State Baptist Headquarters, 615 South Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Apostle James Glenn will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Holy Communion Gospel Center, 1245 E. Genesee, Saginaw, MI 48601 on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
