Mr. Paul Edward Jones

Mr. Paul E. Jones (“Peanut”) passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the age of 81 while residing for a short time at HealthSource of Saginaw. He was born on November 13, 1935 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Paul and Annie Maude House Jones. Paul married Willie Louise Hogan on January 5, 1953 and her transition of life ended on December 23, 2016. They were married 63 years. To this union seven children were born; Charles “Spooky”, Vivian, Douglas “Oopy”, Bonnie, Felicia, Amy “Tina”, and Cedric “Todd”. Paul retired May 1, 1998 after 42 years of service with General Motors Metal Casting. He was a member of Local 668 UAW. During his 42 years, he worked diligently to support the needs of his family. He was a strategic thinker and would develop ideas that would benefit the plant and the General Motors Corporation. Paul was a member of the New Friendship Baptist Church. In his earlier days Paul was an avid sportsman; hunting, and fishing on a regular basis. He loved to hunt in Michigan and with a hunting club in Arkansas. The family indulged in many types of wild game and fish cuisines that were complimented with delicious sides made by his wife Willie. He loved to work in his garden and did so through the summer of 2016. Paul loved music and had a collection of tapes and CD’s he listened to frequently. While a long time member at New Galilee Baptist Church, he was the Chairman of the Trustee Ministry and President of the Male Chorus for many years. He enjoyed going to various churches to sing with the men’s chorus. Paul was accountable and always did what he said he would do. He was always concerned about the welfare of the Pastor and congregation at both churches. Paul leaves to cherish his memory; five children, Vivian (Nathaniel) Armstrong of Little Rock, AR, Bonnie Jones of Kalamazoo, MI, Felicia Robinson of Saginaw, Amy “Tina” (Rodney) Pruitt of Kalamazoo, MI and Cedric “Todd” Jones of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Andrey, Quincy, Nathan, Charles, Eric, Tarrie, Tadric, Sabrina, Lauren, Cedric and Miles; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Suzette Jones of Davenport, IA; one sister, Virginia Grays of Saginaw, MI; sister-in-law, Annette Hogan of Seattle, WA; special nieces, Janet Grays and Shirley Ann Culpepper, both of Saginaw; special nephews, Travis Jones and Robert Walton, both of Saginaw and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Don Anderson and Jessie Smith. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Jones; children, Charles and Douglas Jones; parents, Paul and Annie Maude House Jones; grand-children, Anthony, Jr. and Torrey Robinson; four sisters, Lillie Rushing, Servada Avery, Margerine Bates, and Ruth Jones; one sister-in-law; Claudie Mae Henderson; six brothers-in-law, Clarence Grays, Frank Rushing, Johnnie Avery, Doug Bates, Henry Lee Henderson, and James Hogan. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at New Friendship Baptist Church, 3404 Sheridan Avenue. Pastor Eddie Jackson will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
