Mrs. Pricilla "Joan" Williams

Our precious Mother transitioned peacefully from labor to reward on Saturday, September 10, 2022 with family at her side. Jean Pricilla was the baby girl of the family, born January 30, 1935 to the late Tom and Julia Martin in Saginaw, Michigan. Joan attended the Saginaw Public School System and was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1953. She was affectionately nicknamed “Hun” by her classmates. She began her career after earning her CNA Certificate and was employed with the Saginaw County Hospital. She later attended Flint Beauty Academy where she graduated and earned her Cosmetology License and operated a successful salon providing the hottest styles at that time. She met her lifelong love Eural Williams whom she always described as tall, dark and handsome. The two married on February 22, 1964 at the Old Bethel AME Church and kept their vows of “until death do us part” celebrating 27 years of marriage before his passing on April 3, 1991. As the family grew, Mom put her career on hold to raise her children and take care of the family. She was immaculate in her new duties keeping things in her home spic and span clean and serving hardy meals three times everyday which she continued until her health failed. She also provided the utmost in love and care to her family giving of herself all the time she had; listening, guiding, and teaching her children life lessons to survive and thrive at every stage of life. After the children became of age, Mom once again took on duties outside of the home, she was employed by the Saginaw Public Schools as a Bus Aide. To those young students she became known as Mom, many of them stayed connected with her well into their adulthood. Mom loved church and was a lifelong member (87 years) of Bethel AME Church in Saginaw, MI. Her service in the church included singing in the Bowman Gospel Chorus, Stewardess Board and Retirees Club. Mom leaves to cherish and celebrate her life her four children, Berna K. Martin, Toledo, OH, Steven D. Martin, Hopewell, VA, Mr. Christopher (Dalana) Williams, Sr., Saginaw, MI and Anndrea A. Williams-friend, Saginaw; grandchildren, Anthony D. Tony Martin, Sr., Dionte D. (Amber) Boone, Jesten D. Martin, Chavia N. Martin, Christi Williams, Christopher Williams, Jr., Charley D. Williams and Sabrina Brackett; a host of great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces; a host of cousins including a special cousin, Odalia Rance; special nieces, Susan Price, Julia Bond, Linda Edward, Kathy Chapman, Wendy McGuire, Jean Sheppard and Sandra Chapman. Mom was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Julia Martin; her husband, Eural Williams; brothers, James D. (Carrie) Martin, Bernard; sisters, Lela (Cleveland, Sr.) Price and Zelma (Pastor Roosevelt, Sr.) Chapman; great-grandson, Tony Martin, Jr.; an aunt, many uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Rev. Dr. Dennis Laffoon will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
