Mr. Robert Carpenter, Jr.

Our deeply loved Robert Carpenter Jr. was born September 13, 1944, in Arlington, Tennessee to Robert Sr. and Eva (Scott) Carpenter. He ran his race well and was called home on October 3, 2023, at the age of 79 years old. He married his “sweet wife” Darlean Carpenter on December 24, 1969. She was the love of his life and she remained devoted and steadfast to him until the very end. Robert’s family was the center of his joy. He absolutely loved his three children, completely adored his eight grandchildren, and was totally smitten with his 5 great-grandchildren. Robert led his family by example. He was baptized into the church of Christ in 1970. He served faithfully for over 53 years in any capacity needed. He lived out his faith by showing unconditional love, sacrifice, and service to those around him. That service to others and his family, led him to work tirelessly for over 40 years as an employee of General Motors Grey Iron Plant, where he worked as a skilled tradesman. Robert was a very kind, loving, and humble gentleman. He was a quiet spirit that gave great advice, was a phenomenal mathematician, and puzzle-solver. He was also known to drop beads of wisdom through his famous one-liners. Everyone who knew Robert knew he was an exceptional bowler. He traveled all over the country to compete in pro-level tournaments. He prided himself on his many 300 games for which he received numerous trophies, awards, and bowling rings. Besides his love for bowling, he had a huge love for gospel music, especially acapella music, with Straight Company being one of his favorite groups. He also enjoyed listening to the blues as well. One of Robert's greatest joys was packing up and heading to Brownsville, TN every year for Labor Day. He was loved dearly by the Beard family and forged deep bonds with his brothers-in-law. He was always proud to pull the trailer with his van in the Lauderdale County Annual Labor Day parade. Robert leaves a legacy of love through his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Darlean Carpenter, two daughters, Lottie Carpenter-Morris, Todd Rennea Boone (Michiel), and one son Robert Earl Carpenter (Tasha). His legacy will continue through his grandchildren Brenae Arthur-Jones (Chris), Damani Arthur, Simone Martin (Michael), Michiel Rennea Boone, Robert Carpenter IV, Michiela Boone, Michiele Boone, and Joshua Morris. His great-grandchildren Aubrey Jones, DaMaya Arthur, Miko Martin and Damani Arthur II will continue to build on his legacy of love. He leaves one sister, Early Mae Adams, and one brother James Carpenter (Carolyn). He also leaves behind special friends: Masker Clemons, Hubert Williams, and his Thursday morning bowling family. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert Sr. and Eva (Scott) Carpenter, sisters Alma Ector and Dorothy Tate; brothers John Thomas Carpenter; two great-grandsons, Christopher Michael Jones II, Maru Martin and one of his best friends, Andrew Tippins, Sr. The family would like to extend special thanks to Minister Cedric Townsel, Sr., the South 17th Street Church of Christ family,Ascension St. Mary's Hospital staff, the S.H.S - PTSA, and our nieghbors on South 21st. Street. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at South 17th Street Church of Christ, 516 S. 17th St., Saginaw, MI, 48601. Pastor Cedric Townsel will officiate. Interment will take place Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Friday, from 2:00-6:00 p.m.
