Mr. Robert R. Harrison, Jr.

Robert R. Harrison passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the age of 78 years. He was born December 30, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Robert and Addie Harrison. He attended Saginaw Public Schools and in 1953 the family moved to Burt, Michigan where Robert worked on the farm with his family. He was a member of F.F.A. (Future Farmers of America) where he raised an award-winning hog. Robert graduated from Chesaning High School in 1958 and joined the U.S. Army the same year. After basic training, he served overseas in France. In 1962 Robert was honorably discharged and came home. He started working at General Motors Saginaw Malleable Iron Factory. Robert met and married Geraldine Reed in 1962 in Saginaw, MI. After retiring from GM, he began working as a bus aide. Robert enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and traveling. His favorite past times were fishing and bowling. Mr. Robert R. Harrison leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 56 years, Geraldine; children, Nichelle (Thomas) Tyson, Vera Harrison, Robert Harrison III, all of Saginaw, MI, Omari Porter of Indianapolis, IN and Yvette McKinnley of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Dequan, Reno, Taylor, Tyler, Tomaris, Thomas, Jr. and Loren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Ruth) Harrison of Montrose, MI; sisters, Verna Harrison, Bertha Dailey and Elizabeth (Jesse) Perry, all of Flint, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including special cousins, David Jones, Edward Sarden and Emilia Williamson, other relatives and friends including best friend, John Packard. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Addie Harrison; brothers, John and David Harrison and sister, Ophelia Chenault. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 12741 East Road, Burt, MI 48417, Pastor Albert Haynes, Host Pastor. Pastor Edward Sarden will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
