Mr. Robert Landrum

Mr. Robert Landrum, Sr. affectionately known by many as “Satchel”, was a man of integrity, love, compassion and generosity. He was selfless when it came to the needs of his family and friends, and enjoyed every interaction that he had with us all. Robert Landrum, Sr. departed this life on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the age of 94 years. He was born to Ernest and Eliza Landrum, Sr. on August 13, 1930. Robert was a devoted husband, brother, uncle, dad and granddad. He also was a Korean War Veteran that served and earned an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army. On April 21, 1968, Robert and Irene were married. Through this union they had four girls, and one son: Robin, Sharon, Kim, Terrie and Bobby. They remained married until her passing on March 8, 2021. After retiring from General Motors with 30 years of service in 1992, Robert had more time to enjoy activities like watching sports, going to the race track, and spending more time with family and friends. “Dad we will always remember your infectious smile, charm, and sense of humor. Goodbye until we meet again. We Love You!” Robert leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Sharon K. Merkerson, Virginia Beach, VA and Kimberly Merkerson, Saginaw, MI; son, Robert Landrum II, Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Tito (Simone) Merkerson, Virginia Beach, VA, Shawneesha (Willie) Office of Atlanta, GA, Seeairra Merkerson, Indianapolis, IN, Darius Merkerson, Saginaw, MI, Monique and Makayla Williams both of Phenix City, AL, Maryssa and Robert Landrum III, Phenix City, AL; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, J.T. (Azalee) Landrum, Saginaw, MI; sister, Shirley Murry, Saginaw, MI; brother-in-law, Nathan Merkerson, Saginaw, MI; sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Geraldine Merkerson, both of Philadelphia, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Robert Landrum, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Irene E. Landrum; daughters, Robin and Terrie Merkerson; parents, Ernest and Eliza Landrum, Sr.; five brothers, George Landrum, Leroy Horne, Ernest Landrum, Jr., Charles and James Landrum; three sisters, Hazel Williams, Faye Jamerson and Jeanetta Washington. Family Hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
