Robert Perkins

Funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 North Jefferson Avenue. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Robert Lee Perkins, Sr. departed this life on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw, MI at the age of 64 years. He was born on January 25, 1944 in Swafford, AL the son of Mother Willie Mae (Flanigan) and Deacon Nathaniel Perkins, Jr. Robert confessed Christ at an early age; he was baptized and became a member of Little Cannon Primitive Baptist Church in Safford, AL under the leadership of Rev. Alexander. He relocated to Boston, MA and worked for many years before coming to Saginaw, MI in June of 2000 where he resided until his final hour. He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Ruth Perkins of Boston, MA; two daughters, Michelle and Norma Dae Perkins both of Boston, MA; six sons, Robert Jr., Curtis, Angelo, Marvin, and Nazareth Perkins all of Boston, MA, and Vincent Perkins of New Hampshire; seven sisters, Mary B. Coleman of Saginaw, MI, Willie Mae (Leroy) Coleman of Uniontown, AL, Geraldine Coleman of Selma, AL, Levon Bailey, Sharon P. (Tommy) Cage of Saginaw, MI, Alice Arrington of Grand Rapids, MI and Catherine McCall of Fort Wayne, IN; two brothers, John A. (Karen R.) and Samuel Perkins (Teresa) both of Saginaw, MI. He also leaves five aunts, Ossie Ree (Samuel) Woods of Uniontown, AL, Betty and Jettann Flanigan both of Bessemer, AL; Bertha Ree Young of Saginaw, MI and Alice Swift of Detroit, MI; one uncle, David (Jet) Flanigan of Bessemer, AL. He also leaves behind a legacy of family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of who were special. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Deacon Nathaniel Jr., and Mother Willie Mae (Flanigan) Perkins; dear cousins, William Perkins, Curtis Massey and Earnest Perkins; two uncles, Harvey Flanigan and Alphonsa Burrell; two aunts, Carrie Smith and Fannie Mae Coleman; grandparents; and one step-son, Alfred. Robert was such a kind hearted, decent and fun loving person. He touched many lives and his family will dearly miss him. His famous words were, "Just like that." So long brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend!
