Sunrise: August 15, 1988 Eternal Flame: July 2, 2011 Mr. Roosevelt Lee Burgins, Jr. left this life on Saturday, July 2, 2011. He was born August 15, 1988 in Gary, IN to the late Roosevelt Lee Burgins, Sr. and Saudia Poole. Roosevelt came to Saginaw, MI at the age of 5 years and resided here until joining the military. He served in the United States Army, serving time in Iraq as an infantry soldier, and belonged to the Dedicated Infantry Combat Killer (D.I.C.K.) unit. He was a member of Refreshing Life Ministries, under the direction of Pastor Edward Jones. Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Saudia Poole of Milwaukee, WI; six siblings, Brooke Poole of Gary, IN, Christopher Poole of Indianapolis, IN, Roderick Burgins of Saginaw, MI, Geoffrey Burgins of Detroit, MI, Claudia and Petis McClain, both of Milwaukee, WI; grandmother, Leola Baldwin of Saginaw, MI; two cousins that Roosevelt was raised with as siblings, Elijah Thomas of Saginaw, MI and Shauntia Heilig of Westland, MI; aunts, Lillian Baldwin Hill and Helen Thomas, both of Saginaw, MI, India Poole and Nakia Faust, both of Louisville, KY, Eartha Clemmons of Chicago, IL, Sybil Crenshaw of Flint, MI, Veronica Metcalfe of Saginaw, MI, Athina Moore of South Bend, IN and Tonda Metcalfe; uncles, Omar (Mariko) Poole of Louisville, KY, Floyd Strong of Detroit, MI and John Poole of Milwaukee, WI; great-aunts, Ethel Lindsay, Annie (James) Martin, all of Saginaw, MI, Pecolia Mustapha of Detroit, MI, Mary (Jimmie) Pritchett of Saginaw, MI, Dock (Dr. Betty) Strong of Atlanta, GA, and Arriel Strong of Chicago, IL; great-uncles, Fed (Emma) Burgins of Saginaw, MI and Tommie Burgins of Tuscaloosa, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Johnny and Earnestine Poole; paternal grandfather, Roosevelt Burgins, Sr.; aunt, Nita Baldwin and cousin, Rondray Hill. Family hour will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., with the celebration of his life commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Edward Jones will officiate with interment in Forest lawn Cemetery.
