Mrs. Roxie "Mrs. DuWhite" Mae Ford

Our loved one, Mrs. Roxie Mae Ford, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and business owner passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the age of 96 years. Roxie was born September 26, 1926 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Osburn “OB” Bradley and Olgia Ledden Bradley. She was educated in the Pine Bluff school system where she graduated from high school. Roxie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Solomon Hill Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Roxie relocated to Saginaw, Michigan where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Ford. She became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.B. Bradley. She was a Beta Flock Member. Roxie worked for Du-White Laundry for 20 years before taking ownership. She worked until her health failed. After retiring, Roxie spent her time doing what she enjoyed most, talking daily to her circle of close friends; Charlene Robinson, Mildred Polk, Reesie Haynie, Grace Nelson, Odessa Caver, Margaret (Enoch) Brodus and many church members. Bankston, Nikki Logan, Corintha Bush, Norma (Albert) Carter, Carrie (Solomon) Brunson, Charles Ledden and Garland (Charlene) Smith. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Curtis (Dudley) Tatem, Country Club Hills, IL and Ann Ford, Saginaw, MI. She helped raise nieces, Norma Carter, Suvellia Boggs and Leeunice Washington; grandchildren, Justin (Momoko) Tatem and Sterling Tatem, Country Hills, IL; great-grandchildren, Matthew D. Jr. and DeonTay M. Ford;great-great-grandchildren, Joshiah and Jocier Thomas, Kluture and Kashton Davis and DaKing M. Ford, siblings, Polly Bradley, Roscoe and Zack Bradley, Osburn , Sr. and Robert Bradley, Jr.; nieces, LaJoyce (TJ) Jones, Gwenevere and Vona Renee, and RheaNita Bush and Lottie Haydne; nephews, Zebedee (Patricia) Rhodes, Charles (Sarah) Ford, Jimmy Bush and Michael (Sabrina) Bush; great-nieces and nephew, Renee (Terrance) Harris, Kelly Rhodes, Donielle Logan, Shanita (Brandon) Flowers and Gerard Franklin; great-great-nephews and niece, Terrell (Daphane) Rhodes, Christopher (Tanaasha) Herring and Kunita Ford; goddaughters, Kelly Spiller, TaCreia Voltz, Adriene Mason, Gwendolyn Bowman; god-sons, Rev. Kenneth Draine, Devon Shine and Jronquae Duncan; other close friends, Emma Atwater, Gwen Lowery, Pastor Lathon, LJ Johnson, Curtis Draine, Gladys Smith, the Sam Pruitt, Jones, Curtis Draine, Al and Gloria Napier, and McKnight families and the mother of her great-grandson, Crystal Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Ford; grandson, Matthew D. Ford, Sr.; parents; sister, Jewel Rhodes and other siblings; aunts; a niece she raised, Willie B. Bankston; and brother-in-law, cousins and many friends. Funeral service will take place 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Dr. Marvin T. Smith officiate. Entombment will take place in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, 5950 Gratiot Rd., Saginaw, MI 48638. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of service.
