Mrs. Ruth Williams

Ruth Naomi Williams was born December 7, 1928 in St. John’s, Antigua West Indies the daughter of Maude Derrick and Fredrick Joseph. She passed away at the blessed age of 96 years on December 25, 2024. Ruth moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 2004 where she resided with her eldest daughter, Yvonne Rider-McMillan. She was a genuine and dedicated member of the Spring Gardens Moravian Church in Antigua and Amos United Methodist Church in Saginaw, Michigan. “Ruthie” or “Ms. Ruth” as she is known by many who loved and admired her; always gave from her heart. She made sure no one was left unfed. Ruth was a mother figure to many and loved watching and being around children. She also enjoyed singing and was a political advocate for the Antigua Labor Party. Her laughter, jokes, words of wisdom and beautiful voice will continue to live on in the memories of many. Mrs. Williams leaves to cherish many memories her children, Yvonne Rider- (Carl) McMillan, Elaine Joycelyn Williams, Charlesworth Stanley Williams, Naomi Williams-(Robert) Carvalho and Courtnay Edwin Williams (Shanika); step-son, Condrad Williams; grandchildren, Denita R. Rider of Saginaw, Naudisha Lewis, Shakema and ShaCour Williams, all of St. John’s Antigua; great-grandchildren, Kahleel J. Rider of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Gabriel Braggs of Atlanta, GA, Nahla P. Rider of Saginaw, MI and Brayden Burnett of Texas; niece, Dianne Hicks-Rolle of Miami, FL; nephews, Marvin Edwards of St. Johns, Antigua and Dave and Derek Hicks, both of Miami, FL; adopted son & daughter, Baldwin Whyte and Celestina; a host of other relatives, too many to name and friends. Mrs. Ruth Naomi Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williams; sister, Audry Decambra; grandson, Jerrell Rider; her parents, Maude Derrick and Fredrick Joseph. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, January 17, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Dr. Willie F. Casey, officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210, S Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
