Ruthie Menzie

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2615 Williamson Road. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. from 2 until 8:00 p.m. Family hour will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Ruthie M. Menzie was born October 12, 1944 in Wolf Island, MO to the late Theodore R. and Charlotte Monroe and passed away December 14, 2007. Ruthie was a former member of Freewill Missionary Baptist Church and later joined the Messiah Missionary Baptist Church Family where she became a member of the choir and the Missionary Department. She loved her church family and had many close friends who loved her dearly. Ruthie never met a stranger because she always had that beautiful friendly smile on her face. She was a friend to all who met her. She visited the sick, helped those in need and was always willing to do what she could for others. She loved her family very much. She leaves to mourn her, one son, Robert "Preacher" Herbert Menzie, Jr.; one granddaughter, Tenisha Menzie of Phoenix, AZ; the father of her son, Robert Herbert Menzie, Sr.; sisters, Reolar Triplett, Alberta Jackson, Dorothy Menzie, Geraldine (Moty) McKinney, all of Saginaw, MI and Lula Menzie of Kansas City, Mo; brothers, Theodore R. Monroe, Jr., Eddie (Leatrice) Monroe, John Frederick (Sandra) Monroe, Larry (Pamela) Monroe, Charley (Pickett) Monroe all of Saginaw, MI, and Johnnie Lee (Debra) Monroe of Kansas City, MO; special great-niece who Ruthie called dear to her heart, Toivonna S. McKinney; special niece, she said was the daughter she never had, Tawana S. McKinney; other special nieces, Mary (Willie) McMillion, Ivory (Judge M. T.) Thompson, Deloris (aka Ruthie Jr.) Jackson, Anna (Brian) Patton; a host of other dear nieces; special nephews, Keyon, Moty III, Alfred, Danny Alvin III, Fred L., William Jr., and many, many more. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Lizzie (Harry) Carruth, Flora Bunett, Nadine Bonds, Queen Ester Laster of Saginaw and Emma Jean Menzie of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Roosevelt (Ruby) Menzie and aunt, Ledora Packard. Ruthie's life long friends were Ruby Cotley-Menzie and family, JoAnn West and family; close friends, the Jones, Lewis, Carter, Stephens and a host of others. Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, several uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, nieces, brothers-in-law and close friends. A very special thanks to Messiah, Freewill and Greater Coleman Temple Church Families, close friends, and family members for your love, support and prayers and also to the staff, doctors and nurses of St. Mary's 3rd and 7th floor South Wings, Dr. Ernie Balcueva, Dr. Carlotta Maresca and Dr. Minoo Khetarpal for your care given to our loved one.
