Mr. Samuel D. Logan

Deacon Samuel D. Logan, Sr. departed this life to be with Our Lord and Savior on October 31, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Samuel D. Logan, Sr. was born on December 27, 1934 in Phenix City, Alabama. He was the son of Robert Logan, Sr and Willie Bell (Biggins) Logan. Sam had two brothers, which he was the youngest of the three sons. Sam moved to Saginaw, Michigan for employment. He was a dedicated employee of General Motors for 25 plus years. He didn’t believe in calling into work, so, sick or healthy he was there. He met several friends and acquaintances along that journey. Sam was a graduate of South Girard High School in Phenix City, AL. He was offered a football scholarship, but he decided to marry his forever love, Jimmie Mae Logan. The two entered into “Wedded Bliss” on August 4, 1959. They were married over 61 years until Jimmie Mae departed this life. Sam was devoted to his wife and family. Sam’s “Christian Walk” began at a very young age at his grandfather’s church; Rev W.B. Biggins at Nazareth Baptist Church of Columbus, Georgia. He continued his “Christian Walk” from that point forward until his health failed. He was an active member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Roy L. Manning, Sr. Samuel Logan, Sr. served as a devoted Deacon, the Children Bus Ministry, Male Chorus, Laymen, and was supportive of his pastor, Dr. Roy Manning, Sr. Out of all of his endeavors, most of all he loved the Lord, because, Jesus heard his cry and pitied every groan. Sam learned the golf game while working as a Golf Caddy in his young age. He carried that over to his later years and was a pretty good golfer. He loved Tiger Woods and dared anyone to say anything bad about Tiger. Sam Logan, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory three children, Jolie Armstrong-Sneed,Vandetta Yolinda Logan and Samuel D. Logan, Jr. (Myra Turner); grandchild, Hailey Michelle Logan; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Logan of Dublin, GA and Eudora Logan of McKinney, TX; five nieces, Wendy Crowell of Midland, GA, Sonja Logan of Atlanta, GA, Kimberly Bailey of McKinney, TX, Natalie Logan-Sharp of Benton Harbor, MI and Hilda Calhoun of Atlanta, GA; god-daughter, Ashley McKinnie; a host of cousins including special cousins, Lester and Laquita Booth, Lucy Smith, Micah Biggins, Edward Nesbitt, Jayne Biggins and Phyllis Little, other relatives and friends including special friends, Jerome House, Norris Brown, Howard Tate, Wilson Jones, John Dunnaway, Nathaniel Cormier, Bea Hannah and LaShawndra Logan. Deacon Samuel D. Logan, Sr. was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Deaconess Jimmie Mae Logan; parents, Robert, Sr. and Willie Bell Logan; brothers, Robert Logan, Jr. and Rev. Floyd Logan. The family extends special thanks to Compassionate Care Home Health, Dr. Jafari’s office staff and Commission on Aging, Nicole, Liz and Darrel. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from the Chapel of Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Dr. Roy L. Manning, officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of service.
