Ms. Satyra Monique Griffin

Satyra Griffin was born July 30, 1974 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Patricia Ann Griffin and Ollie Curtis Barry. She passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the age of 51 years. Satyra was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and went to Arthur Hill High School. She was a member of Grace Chapel Church. Satyra worked at VA Hospital for 25 years in Saginaw. Her hobbies included reading, painting, drawing, writing poetry, she loved nature walks and spending time with family. She leaves to cherish many memories, daughter, Kiara Griffin; three grandchildren, Kamilah Griffin-Mushatt, Kameron Griffin and Matthew Frazier, Sr. all of Saginaw; two sisters, Andrea Williams, Essexville, MI and Saverla Williams, Dallas, TX; four brothers, Tyson and Dorian Griffin, Alfred and Curtis Barry, all of Saginaw; a host of aunts; one uncle, Arthur Griffin, Saginaw; nieces, Aubree Griffin, Saginaw, Jazmine Williams-Jones, Bay City, MI, Liyah Brown, Saginaw, Alira Williams, Dallas, TX and Daijah Williams; nephews,, Dorian Griffin, Sr., Joseph Williams Powell, Dallas, TX, Tyson Griffin, Jr., Tyshon Griffin, Saginaw; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends including special friends Shonda Sylvester Williams, Snellville, GA and Terri Dannon, Muskegon, MI. Satyra Griffin was preceded in death by her mom, Patricia Griffin; her dad, Ollie Barry; a son, Nikosi Brown and grandmother, Mayme Griffin. The family would like to express special thanks to the VA Medical Center family, Shila Casey and Tobitha Petty. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beautiful soul, a devoted mother, cherished sister, and beloved friend, whose warmth, wisdom, and love left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Satyra carried herself with quiet power and grace, rooted in strength, resilience, and love. She lived with intention, led with compassion, and understood deeply what it meant to nurture, protect, and uplift others in a world that didn’t always make it easy. Her life was an act of care, resistance, and radiant joy. She was a woman of incredible kindness and unwavering strength. Whether offering a listening ear or heartfelt advice, she always showed up with empathy and love. She made people feel safe, seen, and valued. Above all, she was a wonderful mother. Her children were the center of her world, and her love for them was fierce and boundless. She raised them with patience, pride, and wisdom, giving them not only her love and protection but also the confidence to walk through life knowing they are deeply cherished. Her motherhood is her greatest legacy: one of devotion, resilience, and immeasurable tenderness. Satyra was curious and creative, with a thirst for knowledge and a sense of wonder that kept her spirit vibrant. She found joy in everyday moments, peace in her faith, beauty in nature, and deep meaning in the connections she nurtured. Though her friendship wasn’t casual, it was sacred and enduring. She had a sharp, joyful sense of humor, the kind that could discard tension, light up a room, or leave you laughing long after the moment had passed. Her laughter was a gift, spontaneous, soulful, and contagious: a reflection of the joy she brought into the world. No matter how busy life became, she always made time for the people she loved. Simply put: your life was better for having known her. Satyra was loving, compassionate, wise and true, a rare light in this world. Though she is gone, she continues to speak to us through the way she lived. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched the children she raised, and the love she gave so freely. We grieve deeply, but we also give thanks, for her life, her love, and her laughter. She will be terribly missed but never forgotten. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Dr. Willie F. Casey will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
