Mrs. Shirley Ann Davis

Shirley Ann Davis was born March 7, 1941 in Fayette County, Tennessee to the parents of Limmie and Mattie (Franklin) Simington. She passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the age of 81 years. Missionary Davis was raised in Fayette County, TN and attended Fayette County Schools System. Shirley A. Simington married Elder Jessie Davis, Sr. on January 26, 1959 and they stayed together for 48 years until he went home to Glory. They were blessed with four children. In the beginning, Shirley was very fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom until her children reached adulthood. She became a resident of the City of Saginaw. She completed classes and received a diploma as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Delta College in 1985. She was very involved as a Missionary at Dwelling Place Church of God in Christ. She and her husband, Elder Davis, Sr. created an environment to welcome everybody regardless of race, creed or color, the doors were always open. Through this union of serving, many lives were transformed and changed. Souls were saved and people were advanced and set free. Elder Davis, Sr. and Missionary worked as a team attending conferences and conventions within the Church of God in Christ thru various churches and states. Missionary Davis was disciplined in making sure that she provided an environment open for education with her children and peers. She often spent time elaborating how important education was in this world. She was an avid reader and would read a novel in a short amount of time. She could recall events by dates and time and was known as a, “Historian”. Her favorite pastime was having long conversations with family, friends and others words she loved to talk. Mrs. Davis was gifted in sewing and creating projects. She was a member of the Golden Girls and served as a spiritual leader for mothers and other women at the Candlelight Baptist Church and thru out her community. To cherish many precious memories, she leaves her children, Jessie L. Davis, Jr. (Charlene), Ruby L. Davis-Harvey and Kimberly A. Davis (Kevin); four grandchildren, Kaveon Mills of Saginaw, MI, Kwame Davis of St. Louis, MO, Zarron Harvey of Douglasville, GA and Daniel Davis of St. Louis, MO; one great-grandchild, Temia Davis of St. Louis, MO; brother, Euley (Diane) Simington of Byhalia, MS; a sisters-in-law, Cynthia Bell Simington of Saginaw, MI, Irene Mabone, Dorothy Finnie, both of Somerville, TN, Marine (Pastor Lester) Payne of Moscow, TN and Jeanette Davis of Somerville, TN ; brothers-in-law, Julius (Lorice) Davis of Memphis, TN and Pastor Willie (Carolyn) Davis of Eads, TN; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Missionary Shirley Ann Davis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elder Jessie L. Davis, Sr.; parents, Limmie and Mattie Simington; one son, James R. Davis; one granddaughter, Ashley R. Harvey; six brothers, Eddie, Limmie, Jr., William and Robert Scott and Willie Simington; two sisters, Lula Mae Jordan and Mattie Ellen Swift. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Candle Light Baptist Church, 3305 Ruckle St., Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Willie Mills, Host Pastor. Pastor Davis Jackson will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Avenue. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
