Mrs. Shirley Ann Rockett-Booker

Our beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, Shirley Rockett Booker passed away peacefully on January 9, 2020. She was born on January 31, 1958. In Saginaw, MI to Louis Rockett, Sr. Shirley (Holmes) Rockett. Shirley was a proud graduate of Buena Vista High School, Class of 1976. She was a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University in which she received her Register Nursing Degree. She became a traveling RN throughout the State of Michigan. She was employed by Luther Manor and St. Mary’s Hospital for many years. She was a very loveable person who never met a stranger. She always greeted you with a “Million Dollar Smile” and hug. She enjoyed life with her loving husband, Arnold Booker, kids, grandkids and her extended family and friends. Shirley was an entrepreneur being part owner of The French Quarters, she modeled for Brix Furs, did traveling as a model and was also a Mahogany Model; she was quite fashionable. She loved shopping, concerts, fine dining and going to her daughter’s, Dominique Williams Body Building Contests. She also loved music and dancing. She was always the life of the party. Shirley’s memory will be cherished by her loving mother, Shirley and step-father, Gene; two daughters, Dominique Williams and Samantha Williams; close family friend, Willie Williams; her grandkids, Landan, Laila, Gigi, Romeo, Pharrel, Zane, Royalty and Loyalty; three sisters, Diana Rockett (Archie), Suzette (Willis) Humphrey and Kerry White Turner; two brothers, Louis Rockett (Rose) and DeWrail Rockett (Pam); uncles, Lee Porter Rockett, Grandview, MO, Roosevelt Boyd, Waco, TX, Glenn Moore, Sr., Saginaw, MI and Darnell Holmes; aunts, Liz Holmes and Jerry Moore both of Saginaw, MI , Geraldine Rockett, Grandview, MO; brother-in-law, Brian (Jennifer) Booker; sister-in-law, Iris (Dan) Childs; special son, Christopher Barrera; a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins; best friends, Ehchristine Barrera “Chero”, Billy (Tookie McLaren), Barbera Thomas; also close friend, JoAnne Jackson; lifelong friend, Renee Black; running partners, Barbara, and Dorothy Wilbourn; other relatives and friends.. Mrs. Rocket Booker was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold V. Booker, Jr.; father, Louis Rockett, Sr.; grandparents, Ellsworth and Susie Holmes, Willie and Beatrice Robinson; aunt, Geraldine Robinson and niece, Candace Williams. The family would like to express special thanks for everyone that has shown all their love and support. We pray that the Lord bless you for all your acts of kindness. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607. Min. Sammy Coleman will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m.
