Mr. Terry Smith, Sr.

Mr. Terry Smith, Sr. Saginaw, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the age of 70 years. He was born March 22, 1956 in Vicksburg, Mississippi the son of the late Willie and Lula B. Smith. Terry graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1974. He was a grandfather, father, best friend and more to his own as well as to others. Terry loved music, joking, being with family and his mother’s (Lula B. Smith) cooking. Terry sang with the group, “The Atos”, recording three hits. The members were: David Smith, Sr., Terry Smith, Willoughby Jackson and Joe Fife. Their music was produced by Eddie Kendricks, Sr. All songs were written by Albert Jones. The group was managed by Pato Boyd and the band members were: Johnnie Redemeer, Reuben Colin and Darrell Jennings. Terry’s captivating voice is featured in the song titled, “I’m Not Sure” and in the song with his older brother, David Sr., “Ain’t Seen Nothin Yet”. Terry leaves to cherish his memory his loving son, Terry Smith, Jr; his grandchildren, Michael Ricklefs, Mikhyi Ricklefs and Malik Ricklefs all of Kentucky, Jasmine Smith and Alik Smith, both of Michigan; his partner, Ernestine Henderson; former spouse, Regina Johnson; siblings, Rose Washington, Stacy Smith, Casey Smith, Ladonna Hall and Willie Ward all of Mississippi; cousins, Cathy Rouster, Michigan, Pam Minnefield, Illinois and Luella Turner, Mississippi; many more cousins; nephews and nieces, Nanette Smith, David Smith, Jr., Tanisha and Peris Smith, Willie Smith, Jr., Shamelle White, Demetrius, Detrick and Damascus Smith, many more nephews, nieces relatives and friends. Mr. Terry Smith, Sr. was preceded in death by children, Dionca Marie Smith, Tara Louise Ricklefs and Reginald Terrace Smith; his mother, Lula B. Rouster (Smith); grandmother, Evangeline Lee; father, Willie Smith; brothers, David Carl Smith, Sr., Willie James Smith, Sr., Michael Smith; sister, Karon Washington; aunts, Jazi Minnifield and Willie B. Gaskew; uncles, Ezell Lee, Dan Rouster, Jr. and James Lee; cousins, Dan ”June” Rouster III, Jerry and Betty Rouster; former partner, Dawn Ricklefs; sisters-in-law, Connie Smith (David, Sr.) and Josie Smith (Willie Sr.). Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. David Smith, Jr. will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
