Thomas Bryson,

Family hour will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012 at St. Luke C.M.E. Church, 1121 Tuscola Street, with the funeral commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Charles E. Braddock, Pastor. Elder Thomas Bryson, Jr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemtery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue, on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 p.m. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend went home after a long journey on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the age of 85 years. Mr. Thomas Howard Bryson, Sr. was born February 25, 1927 in Emory Gap, TN to the late Thomas and Sara (McDonald) Bryson. As a young man, he was in a quartet group as a bass singer. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge, he married Annie Edmond. They moved to Saginaw, MI in 1950 where he found work at the General Motors Grey Iron Foundry. He worked there for 26 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Epicurian Lodge #674 I.B.P.O.E. of W. and the UAW Local 668. Mr. Bryson was also a member of St. Luke C.M.E. Church. He enjoyed cooking for everyone, fishing, traveling and gardening. Mr. Bryson leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 64 years, Annie Bryson; four daughters, Debra Holmes, Grand Rapids, MI, Shirley Liddell, Beverly (Willie) Nevitt and Denise (Tony) Bryson-Brown; one son, Elder Thomas (Tina) Bryson, Jr., all of Saginaw, MI; 20 grandchildren, Kandra, Zarshanta, Angela, Angelina, Melvin, Terrance, Taneshia, Sabrina, Steven, Dion, John, Christian, Candance, Crystal, Shatoyya, Micheal, Christina, Antonette, Micah and Michelle; 43 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one older sister, Bonnie Coleman, Harriman, TN; one sister-in-law, Lorriane Bryson, Knoxville, TN; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his long-time friends, Gilbert Douglas, George Davis, Charlene and Major Robinson, Maude and John Holmes. Mr. Bryson was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Michelle and James L. Bryson; one grandchild, Sharkira Holmes; one brother, James Bryson; one sister, Margaret Hickcock; and one son-in-law, John Liddell, Sr.
