Mrs. Verae "Doll" Wyatt

Mrs. Verae (Doll) Wyatt, a beautiful wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grand-mother, sister, aunt, & so much more, transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, surrounded by her immediate family and a niece at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. She started life’s journey on June 3, 1952, as the sixth child and youngest daughter of the late Milton & Elizabeth (Marlow) Harris in Union Springs, Alabama. It was during her early years that she learned a life lesson of gardening. Anyone that knew her, knew that she kept a HUGE and WELL-MAINTAINED Garden of an assortment of vegetables that she often gave away to family, friends and neighbors. She was quick to throw on a pot of greens, beans and/or peas from her garden or freezer on a Sunday, holiday, or when family visited from out of town. Verae loved flowers. Every spring and summer she would plant beautiful flowers in her yard to beautify her home. She enjoyed sitting in her living room, watching her neighborhood, the weather channel, her “stories”, watching and going to sporting events and fishing. She also enjoyed listening to music. She did not mind cutting a mean rug when “Cha-Cha Slide came on”. Overall, she enjoyed people and anything that would bring people together and absolutely enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a firm believer in faith and the word of God. She attended Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leaderships of the late Pastors Willie Hankins & Robert Harris and currently Chevez Marshall. She taught prayer, believing in the word of God, faith and so much more to her family and whomever she would encounter. She would often be a listening ear to family and friends and help them through difficult situations. She believed firmly in treating people how you would want to be treated. Shortly after graduating from Carver High School (Bullock County High School), “Class of 1970”, she moved to Saginaw, MI with her brother Robert and his family. Then eventually her baby brother George (which they were very close) relocated to Michigan. She was a hard worker with a pleasant smile, a kind and loving heart to match. She would work for Kinder Kare, then later worked for and retired from Vlasic Foods, Bridgeport and Imlay City, MI. She was a hard worker and good friend. During her short retirement, she helped care for her grandchildren. Her southern roots wouldn’t let her sit for long, because she went back to work as a bus aide at Saginaw Preparatory Academy, then later at North Charter Academy employed by Auxillo. She cherished all of her bus kids and would often give them words of encouragement, teach them life skills and bring them snacks; up until the day her health failed. She was a loving and devoted wife of twenty-nine years to John Garfield Wyatt. He survives her. She also leaves three daughters, Theresa (Luke) Sturdivant, Union Springs, AL, Doris Tellis and Chenita Tellis both of Saginaw, MI. She was a stern woman until the fourteen grandchildren showed up, Quinn Tellis, Chante Wrenn, Precious King, Larry McDonald II, James McDonald, Charles Bowes Jr, all of Saginaw, MI. Luke Sturdivant II, Lukel Sturdivant, Luk’Arthur Sturdivant, Luk’Seth Sturdivant, Luke’Zekiel Sturdivant, Luke’Viticus Sturdivant, Lu’King Sturdivant, Lu’Ernest Sturdivant, all of Union Springs; (soon to be) nine great-grandchildren, Madison Lawson, Lavaiah Wrenn, Ka’Leeah Wrenn, Chan’teah Wrenn, Lailah Wrenn, Gregory Wrenn Jr., Journeii Hibler, Ceana Tellis, and Baby Green, all of Saginaw, MI; brothers, Arthur (Vicky) Harris and George (Glendora) Harris, of Saginaw, MI; sisters Patsy Marion of Rochester, NY and Stella (Lonnie) Adams of Haines City, FL; sisters-in-love, Ruby T. Harris of Rochester, NY and Mary Harris of Saginaw, MI; brother and sisters-in-law, William (Thelma) Wyatt of Saginaw, MI, Betty-Ann (Robert) Jordan of Columbus, OH and Annell (Freeman) Young of Tacoma, WA; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; a host of god- children, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Elizabeth (Marlow) Harris; brothers, Pastor Robert Harris, Milton Harris and Eddie Harris; sister-in-love, Lee Harris; brother in love, Abe Marion and her cousin (more like a big sister), Pearl Dorsey. Sending out thanks, blessings, and love to the staff of Covenant Medical Center and Sparrow Hospital; special thanks to La’Taschia Collins, Denitra Harper, family, friends and everyone else that prayed, shared words of encouragement and offered condolences. Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 North 8th Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Chevez D. Marshall will officiate with interment in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 Holland Rd., Saginaw, Michigan 48601.
