Ms. Vesha Welzin

Our beloved daughter, mother, wife, aunt, niece, grandmother and friend Vesha passed peacefully on December 26, 2022 her battle was lost due to health complications at Covenant Healthcare in her hometown at the age of 62 years. She was born the daughter of Harriett Anderson and Bernard Merkerson on June 3, 1960. Vesha was one of a kind. She was born and raised in Saginaw Michigan the oldest of three. Growing up she was a member of Greater Williams Temple. Her grandmother Mary ensured she had a relationship with, as well as learned the grace of God. She spent her life, living to the fullest and doing the things she loved, embarking an unforgettable impression on anyone who had the opportunity to experience her spirit. Vesha was a risk taker which led to her passion for gambling and in her eyes she was, “The Best Tunk Player” in the world. In her lifetime she was blessed to have shared years with the love of her life, her husband Wayne Welzin; the love she had for him was like no other. Vesha enjoyed spending time with her children, she loved each in her own special way. Not only did she have the pleasure of being a mother, she was blessed with her time on earth to embrace and love on all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will never be forgotten for the qualities and characteristics that made her the woman we all deeply loved and will truly miss. Vesha was nothing shy of a diva, she loved to dress, the epitome of having passion for fashion, one woman that never stepped out without dressing to impress. Anybody that knows her knew any color purse you needed you could count on her to have it. She made such an eternal impact that will forever remain in the hearts and memories of her loved ones. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Harriett Hutson; sisters, Michelle (Walter) Campbell and Sherrie (Charles) Cook; aunts, Ineka Henderson, Valerie Woods and Renee Morris; two daughters, Denitra Harper and Vesha Shaw; three sons, Elisha Tillman III (Nicole) Demarco Harper and Donell Clayton, Jr.; sixteen grandchildren, Ja’Meisha McClendon, Sparkles Taylor, Quemont, Elisha III, Criveshaon, Sharde, A’ohnesti, Lejend Tillman, Kariem Swilley Terris, Damarea and Demarco Harper, Jr., Danella Clayton, Tay’Ohna Hatter-Shaw, and Charvion Tullos, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren, Kennedy Taylor, Rykell Carethers, Elisha (Bun Bun) Tillman V, Detorrion (D2) Liddell, Elias, Messiah Tillman, Ka’Miyah and Ka’Milah Swilley; special niece, Bernice (Qui) Stewart; nephews, D’Quonn Johnson, Jamarr Bates and Miguel Ross; special sons, Frank (Latrice) Gaskew, Antwone Humes, Kiwani (Markisha) Taylor; friends, Verna Irvin, Freddie Williams, Warnelia (Pezza) Humphrey-Wright, Wardell Amos, Schlar Erwin, Ronald (Nook) Holmes; god-children, Tawhona (Henry) Templeton, Henry Williams, Jr., Viontae Thomas and a host of other friends and family. Vesha was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Welzin; father, Bernard Merkerson; grandmother, Mary Earl Ramsey; grandfather, Clyde Anderson; sister, Illya Fite; uncles, John Hawkins and Donovan Woods and great-grandmother, Viola Butler. Family hour 11:00 AM Monday, January 9, 2023, at Greater Williams Temple C.O.G. I.C, 608 E. Remington, Saginaw, Michigan 48601 with the funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM. Elder Arthur Aiken officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of service.
