Mr. Virgil Ree Walker

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the age of 93 years. Virgil was born September 14, 1927 in Twin City, Georgia the son of the late Isaac Walker and Mattie Jones. Virgil married Margaret McCullough on October 27, 1969 and to that union six children were added. Virgil worked for General Motors Grey Iron Plant where he retired after working for 30 years and was a member of UAW Local 668. He was a member of Greater Williams Temple Church of God in Christ where he served on the Deacon Board and was the president of the Usher Board. Virgil loved to spend time with his family, take walks through the neighborhood, fish, garden, cook and tell stories from the past. He loved to talk and a stranger, he did not meet. Virgil was always humble, kind, willing to help anyone and always smiling. Virgil leaves his memories to be cherished by, his wife Margaret Walker, Saginaw, MI; two daughters, Brenda Phillips and Ayanna Walker(granddaughter) both of Saginaw; two sons, Ivey Walker, Augusta, GA and Dorian (Danyelle) Walker, Naperville, IL; two brothers, Charlie Walker, Augusta, GA and Akune Walker, Aberdeen, MD; godchildren, Tori Foote, Vassar, MI, Doris Wilson, Connie and Diamond Roby, Saginaw, and Cory Dottery, Virginia Beach, VA; 12 grandkids; 28 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Morton and Juanita Bady; three brothers, Walter, George and Booker T. Walker; three sons, George, Michael and Virgil Jr. Walker and one son-in-law, Dennis Phillips. The family wishes to thank the staff at Covenant Hospital and Samaritas Rehab Center. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Greater Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C., 608 E. Remington, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Arthur Akin will officiate with interment at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 Holland Rd, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will take place Tuesday, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607.
