Mr. Willard Comer

Mr. Willard Comer passed away suddenly Monday morning, April 26, 2021 at the age of 72 years. He was born November 20, 1948 in Jackson, Tennessee, the son of Deroy Comer and Lizzie Mae Ellison. Willard moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1974 after his family relocated, he was such a protector. He was self-employed and a Jack-of-all-trades. Willard was a sweet, loving, caring man that was always doing something for someone. He loved attending family events, spending time with his friends, playing cards and dominoes, listening to his favorite blues and old school music. Willard will be fondly missed by all those who loved and adored him. Mr. Willard Comer leaves to cherish many memories: two daughters, Mershell Flinnon of Flint, MI and Tiffany Comer of Saginaw; five grandchildren, My’Kel and Gabrielle Jackson, both of Flint, Taiya Hodge, Rosedale, NY, Jeremiah Carter and Tahani Comer-Cowley, both of Saginaw; his mother, Lizzie Mae Ellison-King; two step-children, James and Jermaine Houston, both of Saginaw; sisters, Sharon Brown and Theresa Vaughn, both of Saginaw, MI; brothers, Cleveland Comer, Ypsilanti, Samuel Comer, of Elyria, OH, Emmitt Comer of Sicklerville, NJ, Gentry Smith, Joseph, Dexter and Edward Comer; all of Saginaw; aunt, Fannie Thompson-Patrick; uncles, Willie D. Ellison and Johnnie Lee Comer; all od TN; sisters-in-law, Belinda, Lora, Nilda Comer, Sharon Love-Comer, Roszena Thomas of SC, Shirley Thomas Duhaney of MD and Beatrice Thomas of Saginaw; brothers-in-law, Patrick Brown, Anthony Vaughn and Robert Jamerson, David Thomas, of SC, nieces, Chandra Wolfork, Latorya, Latanya, Lakendra, Niecy, DeWaunika and Yolanda Comer and Alicia Vaughn; nephews, Joseph, Atwan, Terill, Brandon, Steven, James, Amondo, Roderick, Antonio, Demarcus, Dewayne, Terrill I, Eric and David, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including, Dorothy Comer, Grenada Thomas; special friends, Elijah Hughes and Mary Drake. Mr. Comer was preceded in death by his children, Tequila, Willard D. and Marcus Comer; father, De’Roy Comer; grandparents, Cleveland and Eliza Ellison and Elijah and Celie Comer; sister, Margaret Comer-Jamerson; sister-in-law, Mable Comer; brother-in-law, Wash Lewis, Jr.; nephew, De’Roy Comer; a special friend, Mary Flinnon-Bland and step-father, Dillard King. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
