Mr. William Henry Carter

“In loving memory of a Good Father’ William Henry Carter was called home by the Lord on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the age of 89 years. He was the second oldest of nine children born to Henry and Katie Bell (Porter) Carter on December 18, 1929 in Lafayette, Alabama. William left Alabama and during his travels, he lived in Dayton, Ohio. He made Saginaw, Michigan his final destination. He began working at the Chevrolet Grey Iron Plant for General Motors Corporation in 1967. After 30 years of service, William retired in 1982. In 1992 William asked Willie Mae Williams, for her hand in marriage. Their union was 26 years and she survives him. He was a faithful member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. His loving children who will miss him dearly, From his union with Mary Carter, daughter, Shelly (Anthony) Johnson of Lexington, Ky; his union with Annie Pearl Carter, daughter, Brenda Lawson, Saginaw, MI and son William S. (Dorothy) Carter Shreveport, LA. Nikki Jackson-Banks (Byron) Lexington, KY, Shafronia McCaskey Saginaw, MI, Jasper Mirree, Grand Rapids, MI, Larry (Mary) Garrett, Roanoke, AL, Robert (Jeanette) Williams, Detroit, MI, Deborah (Timothy) Williams-Bandy, Johns Creek, GA, Jacqueline (Alex) Williams-Woody, West Hills, CA; There are 24 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren; his step -mother, Mattie Carter, Atlanta, GA; his siblings, Dolly Nolan, Robert Carter, Gladys Sheppard, Mary Ann (Rev. Aaron) Lumpkins, Patrick Black, Marrianne Brown, Wanda Brown, Betty Patterson, all of Atlanta, GA and Daisy (Rev. Oswald) McCauley, Lanett, AL; sisters-in-law, Ruby Carter and Ella Carter. William has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. William was predeceased by his parents; four sisters, Fannie Mae (Lonnie) Gipson, Shirley (James) Coates, Mary Jo (John) Daniels and Annie Taylor; along with three brothers and one sister-in-law; James Howard (Betty) Carter, Eugene Carter and Melvin Carter; his brother-in-law, Percy Nolan; a son-in-law, Wayne Lawson; grandsons, Anthony Carter and Alford Jones; along with two aunts, Mary Herd and Hannah (Lonnie) Carter Beason. William was a PROUD member of Soul Survivors Motorcycle Club as well as the Fraternal Order of Masons. William loved to shoot pool, play cards and was an awesome dancer. He was known to “cut a rug” back in the day. When he gave you that 👌&#55356;� sign, you knew everything was going to be alright. Many thanks to a true family friend Ms. Sara Jamison. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 810 Cathay Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Blake D. Strozier, Host Pastor and Pastor Robert Williams III will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. to greet friends.
