Mr. William "Jitterbug" Dugan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A TIME TO BE BORN Mr. William “Jitterbug” Dugan IV, was born on June 7, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan to the parents of William and Paula Dugan III. A TIME TO LOVE He married Althea L. Dugan in October of 1973 in Saginaw, Michigan. To this union, they shared a dedicated and loving son, Vincent (Chondeleea) Dugan. They shared four grandchildren, Ashtonee (Lorennzo) Bryant of Texas , Tiara, Tamara, Tyra Lawrence of Saginaw, MI; seven great-grandchildren, Makiyah, Mason, Kason, Kylie, Kassdi, Mila and Kolbi; god-brother, Shawn (Marlana) Guerrero and special nephew, Dennis (Cristia) Barefield; nieces, Tracey (Tommy) Dillard and Jodi Clark. A TIME TO SERVE During his school years he attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School, while later attending Delta College. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Private E2 until he was Honorably Discharged. After returning to Saginaw, he began working at the family business, Clark’s Grocery Store while becoming active in his church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as a member of Knights of Peter Claver. He started his career at Saginaw Steering Gear Div., GM in which he was a dedicated employee for 30 plus years until his retirement in 2001. During his years of service at Saginaw Steering Gear, William became busy with advocation for UAW Union Workers. He was an official at Wanigas Credit Union for 34 years; Credit Committee for 11 years and served on the board for 23 years. After retirement, “Jitterbug” wanted to service his community in a leisure way, with fun, laughter and expand his social skills, with a place to “wind down’ in a comfortable atmosphere. He opened his famous bar, “Jitterbugs” in 2001. You could always encounter him at the bar, enjoying customers. There may be a game of pool “he rarely lost a game” playing cards, joking, laughing or just enjoying with love and appreciation of your presence. It quickly became a pivotal social setting in Saginaw until its closure in 2009. He accomplished and achieved one of his dreams with success! A TIME TO REST Mr. William “Jitterbug” Dugan IV departed this earthly home for this home in Heaven on September 18, 2023 at the age of 80 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Paula) Dugan III; sister, Velda Yvonne Clark; god-brother, Rodney Walters; cousin, Al Holiday. A TIME TO APPRECIATE The family wishes to express sincere thanks to “Jitterbugs” “Brothers” for their love, time, dedication of brotherhood and friendship: Kenny Fields, Luther Harrell, Reginald Price, Robert “Fat Daddy” Rogers and Clifford Harris and close cousins, Robert "Moe". Woods and Ronald Dugan. Funeral service 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 North 6th Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Father Frank Voris OFM,CAP will officiate. Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Road., Holly, Michigan 48442. Visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
