Mr. William Earl Lockhart

William Earl Lockhart was born September 7, 1946 in Denham Springs, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully at the age of 72 years on Thursday, May 16, 2019 with his loving daughter Kim, and other family members by his side. Earl was baptized at an early age at Roberts United Methodist Church in Denham Springs, LA. He was married to Jacquelin for 42 years before she passed in 2014. Earl and Jackie were the parents of two beloved daughters, Carla and Kim. Many cherished times were spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as they affectionately referred to him as “Pop Pop”. They loved spending time with “Pop Pop” at his home while watching westerns, baseball and football games together on the weekends. Earl was a committed employee of the General Motors Automotive Corporation and a member of UAW Local 668 in Saginaw, Michigan. He retired after 37 years of service. His sense of humor will truly be missed by many of his old coworkers and fellow retired friends. Earl enjoyed his quality time with his daughter Kim while cruising through the city listening to the blues, shopping as he playfully teased and had fun with her and the grand kids. Most of Earl’s memories were made with his family in both Saginaw and Denham Springs, LA. Earl appreciated and enjoyed his time spent while visiting back in Denham Springs over the last few years. His laughter, personality, protective and generous spirit will be missed by them all. William Earl is survived by his devoted daughter, Audrea “Kim” Lockhart; mother, Martha S. Lockhart; grandchildren, Danielle Jenise (Travis) Williams, Sydney and Jordan Ponder; great-grandchildren, Brandan William, Ian, Carrington and baby Natalie; his brother, Berlin, Jr. (Bobbie), MS; sister, Dr. Lettie Lockhart, Athens, GA; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Lockhart; brother-in-law, Tommie (Theresa) Gipson; aunts and uncles, Vera Baker, Richard (Geraldine) Lockhart, Iceola Johnson, all of LA, Lionel (Dorothy), Russell (Paula) Terrell, Eugene (Paulette) and Bobby Jean Sowell, all of Saginaw; many nieces and nephews, including Greg, David, Tana, Deshawn, Schronne, LA, Christopher, Andrea and other relative and friends. Other than his loving wife Jacquelin (Gipson) Lockhart, William was also preceded in death by his father, Berlin Lockhart, Sr., daughter, Carla Lockhart; sister, Barbara Ann; brother, Freddie Morris, Sr.; aunt, Mary Jones; nephew, Freddie Morris, Jr.; and a niece, Schwanda Allen. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Hussain and CCU Nurse Lisa and staff on the 3rd floor at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at St. Luke CME Church, 1121 Tuscola Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor M. Joyce Redfearn will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N.
