Willie Mae Bell

Mrs. Willie Mae Bell, known to many as Willa, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born on May 09, 1943 in Marion County, Georgia to the late Mr. Eudonald Scott and Mrs. Ellen Jefferson Scott. Willie Mae attended Marion County Public Schools in Buena Vista, Georgia. On April 14, 1965, she was joined in marriage to Mr. Henry Lee Bell of Preston, GA and has remained in this union for 49 years! In 1976, Henry and Willie Mae moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where she remained until her death. For the past 36 years, she was a faithful and devoted servant of Jehovah as a member of the South Saginaw Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. While she enjoyed fishing, playing cards, drawing, and writing poetry, her most treasured activity was preaching and teaching others the truth about Jehovah God by means of the door to door preaching activity. While there are many fond memories, no one can deny the love and devotion Willie Mae had for her husband, children, and grandchild. Whatever her family needed, she was always there to give, whether it be a good laugh, a delicious home cooked meal, or even some firm discipline! For many of her nieces, she became a “second mom”, always there to provide counsel, guidance, and support. Although ill for the past few years, her inner strength, courage, and reliance on Jehovah left an indelible impression on all. Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Henry Lee Bell, Sr.; three children, Anita Bell and Cassandra Bell, both of Saginaw, Michigan, and Henry (Tonya) Bell, Jr. of Locust Grove, Georgia; two sisters, Ruby (Edward) Jackson of Miami, Florida and Mary (Lonnie) Hall of Pineville, Louisiana; two brothers, Mr. Edward (Carolyn) Scott of Miami Florida and Mr. Russell (Willie Mae) Scott of Palm Bay, Florida; one very special granddaughter, Brittney Bell of Locust Grove, Georgia; two aunts, Mrytis Taylor and Mattie L. Smith, both of Orlando, Florida. She also leaves a host of very dear nieces and nephews as well as a very special friend, Garnetta Sturkey. Willie Mae was predeceased by two sisters, Thelma Williams and Eddie Lee Walker; four brothers, James, Clifford, Willie Felton, and Ezra Scott; a special sister-in-law, Mrs. Nettie Scott; and a very special friend, Georgia Polk. A special thank you to her DaVita Family and to all the friends and family who showed such loving support during this difficult time. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1203 N. Niagara Street. Brother James Brown will officiate. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
