Ms. Arnita "Nita" Hatcher

January 31, 1926 - January 14, 2021

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the age of 94 years. She was born on January 31, 1926 to Alice Acoff (Hale) and Ludia Worford in Selma, Alabama. Arnita previously lived in Indiana and Ohio before coming to Michigan in 1956. Arnita was employed at the Bancroft Hotel for many years before becoming a caregiver. She loved people, Arnita took care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and nephews. God was first and foremost in her life. Arnita accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, its choir and Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of Charlotte Ray Temple #549. Some knew her as “Nita” or “Mother Hatcher” but she was lovingly known by her family as “Nanny”. She loved her family very much. Nanny loved doing word search puzzles, needlecrafts and watching her “stories” every afternoon. Cooking for her family was her passion, she was known for her southern cooking which was a family tradition every Sunday and Holiday, often fixing a plate for anyone who came by. Cherishing her precious memories are her daughters, Alice Diana Hatcher and Loria A. Hatcher; grandchildren, Alishia, Shontoria and Diamond Hatcher and Da’Vante Davis; great-grandchildren, Demarkus Jr. and Justin Laster, Michael Sanchez Jr., Ra’Niya and A’Nija Holmes, Da’Vante Davis Jr. and Carmello Davis; nephew, John (Lorna) Burke; great nephews, Matthew and Brandon Burke; special friends, Mrs. Pauline Lawrence, Mrs. Reacie Haynie, Johnnie (Betty) Sewell and Charles Blackmon that were dear to her and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Alice Hale and Ludia Worford; stepfather, Raymond Hale; sister, Claudia M. Burke; brothers, Jerry Worford and Albert Hale; nephew, James E. Williams; great-nephew, Reginald Morris. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Monday, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
