Mrs. Brenda Joyce Baker

Ms. Brenda Joyce Baker was born November 5, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan to Joe and Lula Mae Baker. She passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 69 years. Brenda was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and a member of New Life Baptist Ministries. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1974. Brenda’s previous jobs were with the Saginaw Public School District and as a Home Care Provider. She enjoyed hobbies of gardening, social gatherings and spending time with family. Brenda was a blessing to many children and adults. She had a big heart, and was always giving. Ms. Baker leaves to cherish many memories, four children, Deacon Damion Demaro-Lee Yancy, Demetreus Lamar, Donovan Lee and Demetria LaVonne Yancy, all of Saginaw; six grandchildren, Karrington Riggins, Kaleb, Cameron, Ava, Skyy and Genesis Yancy all of Saginaw, including bonus grandchildren, Micha Washington, Shamaia Harris and Justice Perkins; sisters, Annie Jackson, Gladys Gaines, Evelyn and Michelle Baker; brother, Michael (Sherri) Baker; aunt, Lizzie Pickett; three uncles, Eddie L., Sam and Flim Baker; god-sister, Brenda Palmer; god-brother, Ray Pearson; god-daughters, LaTorri Frierson, Shelia Little and Davana Harrison; bonus daughter, Ciara Cannon; nieces, Rhonda Gaines, Briana Jackson and Monika Baker; nephews, Darrell and Christopher Gaines, Marcus Jackson, Deonte Redeemer and Dytarious Roby; cousins, Dorothy Baskins, Mattie Pritchard, Linda Gibbs, Frank Pickett, Janice Grays, Patrica, Brenda and Curtis Baker, Charlotte B. Baker, Lilly Jones, Willie, Jermaine and Jake Youngblood, Agrony Thomas and Gilda Jackson; sister-in-law, Patricia Thorne; two brothers-in-law, Robert Yancy and Roy (Dorothy) Gaines; many other relatives, McConnie Baker, Betty Sanders, Cheryl Pickett, Bonnie (Pastor Otis Washington), Anthony, Danny and Bruce Pickett and Jermaine (Tisha) Sanders; special friends; Shirley Jones, Lillie O’Neal, Donna Hughes, Beverly Frierson, Kathy Rouster, Janice Lacey-Humes, Rickey and Gloria LeVario. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at New Life Baptist Church Ministries, 1401 Janes Ave., Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Craig Tatum will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Family hour will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. where the family will be present.
