Our beloved Father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Mr. Byron David Montrel Sr., passed away with his family by his side on Monday, October 26, 2020 at the age of 59 years. He was born May 7, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Selma Montrel-Grays and Daniel Montrel Sr. He was a high school graduate of Buena Vista High school class of 1979 “B.V. Knights”. Byron enjoyed and loved basketball, he played for B.V., and attended Delta College. Byron enjoyed spending his time with family, and extended family members making every life experience a teaching moment. Byron was previously employed with All American Ford-Saginaw, MI, Labadie Buick GMC-Bay City, MI, McDonald GMC and was currently employed with Butterfields Used Cars-Saginaw, MI with his extended family. Byron loved to travel and at all times his vehicle would be filled to the capacity with his children, nephews, nieces and their friends just having a good time. Byron owned and operated his business; Montrel’s Enterprise-Used Cars, Saginaw, MI. Byron was also the owner and operator of his family business “So Clean” car wash located in Flint, MI. Byron loved his mother deeply. As a little guy he promised his mother when he gets older “I’ll take care of you”. He spent time with his children, son-in-law and grandchildren eating and making memorable moments. Byron will be missed by his children; Shakenia (Delvonn) Skinner, Sharenia Montrel, Demarkus (Marika) Montrel, Saginaw MI. Grand-children; Jeffery Chandler Jr., Devin Skinner, Kiley Montrel-Rodriguez, EkamJeet Byron Singh, Gurnoor Hunter Singh, Jeremiah Montrel Saginaw, MI, Demarkus Morris of Corpus Christi. TXSisters; Bertha Bell, Yolanda Seay, Sr., Saginaw, MI., Aprall Strong, North Carolina. Brothers; Daniel Montrel Jr., Saginaw, Gerald Montrel, Houston, TX., step brother; Curlee Grays, Detroit, MI, Aunt; Sara Jamison, Saginaw, Uncle Ronald Jamison, Roanoke, VA. Special nieces and nephews who he played a major role as their father; Nefonzie Saunders (D-Bird), Charles Bell Jr. (Chuckie), Nakeia Strong, Quincy (Brandi) Hayes, Denise (Raymond) Tyson, Antwaune Hayes. Special nieces and nephew; Krystal Montrel of Houston, TX, Norva Carpenter, Razzie Adrian Box of Saginaw. Byron had many other family and friends whom he loved including his; (Ex-wife) Denise Montrel-Smith, special friends; Frances Carpenter, Dwyane Parker, Dewrail Rocket, Joe (Demetrius) Jackson, Jacques Blackwell, Otis, Todd and Carey (Shervna) Butterfield. He was preceded in death by son; Byron David Montrel Jr., mother; Selma Grays, father; Daniel Montrel Sr., sister; Carolyn Seay, Maternal Grand-parents; Thomas Edwards Saunders, Berta Myers, Paternal Grandparents; William, Deborah Thibodeau Montrel, aunt; Velvet (Tommy) Bigbee, uncle; Alphonso Jamison and his special friend, Craig Butterfield. The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Covenant-Cooper Hospital and Gift of Life for caring for our Dad. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate with a private funeral service.
