Catherine Clark

On June 1, 2014, as a result of God’s divine intervention, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend received her final reward. She was born on June 11, 1925 in Frogmore, LA to the late Columbus and Julia Allen, Sr. She was married to Hilliard Clark, Sr. on March 22, 1947, who preceded her in death in 1975. She and her four young children arrived in Saginaw, MI on October 6, 1953, to join her husband who had found work at the Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry. She and her family lived in the city of Saginaw until 1962. The family then moved to Buena Vista Township, where she remained until her transition. She and her husband had 11 children: a son who died at birth in 1966, a daughter, Ruby Jean Clark, who passed away in 1991, and another son, George (Buddy) Clark, who made his transition in 2009. Her surviving children are Dorothy Cooper of Clinton, NC, Sherley Clark (Milton Marshall) of Saginaw, MI, Ruth Clark (Lloyd Keys) of Henderson, NC, Judge Terry L. Clark of Saginaw, MI, Hilliard (Barbara) Clark, Jr. of Hinesville, GA, Timothy Clark (Neelyia Ambrose) of Saginaw, MI, Hilda (Roosevelt) Freeman of Fayetteville, NC and Jacquelyn Clark (Hiawatha Smith) of Byhalia, MS, and a grandson, David Clark, who lived with her. While raising her family, she found time to work first at the old Robertson’s Laundry and later at St. Mary’s Hospital. She found joy in the fact that she had a relationship with God. And, she was most at peace while fishing, working in her garden or watching television, while her dog, Max, slept in her lap. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board. In addition to her children, she leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters, Ethel Rhodes of Flint, MI, Julia Bowman and Ernestine Allen of Wildsville, LA; a brother, Timothy Allen of Wildsville, LA; her 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and some very special cousins; her Pastor, Willie and Martha Hill, Jr. and the entire Mt. Nebo Baptist Church family whom she loved very much; special friends, Grant and Marie Crocket, Lula Butler, Areial Taylor, some great fishing buddies over the years too numerous to name; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and others not mentioned who were dearly loved, appreciated and not forgotten. She now joins her three children, husband, parents, two brothers, and three sisters to walk around heaven all day long. She will remain in our hearts a lifetime. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 1111 North 29th Street. Pastor Willie Hill, Jr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., where the family will be present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. for a family hour. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to consider the Mt.
